GameStop has posted their weekly Madden Monday.

Quote:
"If you're a Madden fan, passing the time from now until the August 12 release of Madden NFL 09 can be like watching the movement of the minute hand on a clock. Sure, you can watch the NBA or NHL playoffs, but it's just not the same, is it? And baseball? You'd probably prefer the clock-hand thing.

We're here to make it easier for you over the next several weeks because we're beginning a new weekly segment called "Madden Mondays." Exclusively here at the GameStop blog, we'll reveal a different feature for Madden NFL 09 every Monday that nobody else knows about. These are not necessarily THE new features of Madden NFL 09, but they are nonetheless interesting features that the good folks at EA Sports will reveal to us before they give them to anyone else. While they are keeping many of the core features under wraps until later, you can rest assured that they are working to make Madden NFL 09 the most realistic experience ever, and they would never just add purple horseshoes to their cereal and call it a day."

If that player happens to be known for his elaborate celebrations, then he'll perform some of those that you've seen him do in real life. For example, a player like Terrell Owens has more than 10 of his familiar celebrations available.
Great, so now cyber TO can be just as annoying as the real world version.

Seriously, from the screenshot it looks like the fields and player models are getting the same makeover as NCAA.

I hope they allow for players who are known for not celebrating to simply toss the ball to the Ref (if we actually get to have Refs on the field)

Im SOOO glad they got celebrations taken care of. That was my only gripe with last years game...

Isn't that the truth? At least we can count on a new tidbit of information on a weekly basis with this Madden Monday thing.

I hope they tie this feature in with the custom stadium music/soundtrack feature I believe they are implementing.

I would LOVE to hear hail to the Redskins every time my team scores. i haven't been able to do this since NFL 2K5...

WOW, this is cool. i have always wanted to pick my celebrations. i like how this is shaping up.

Doesn' it look as if Randy Moss in the above pic have nike cleats instead of them lame reebok cleats ea have been using in the past

and i thought i was the only one who thought that...

seems a bit hypocritical that the nfl "allowed" ea to put in celebrations when they have taken a hard line to discourage them in the league with penalties

i guess its another example of ea's next-gen motto "if it's not really in the game, it's in our game"

*sigh*

I don't know what NFL you've been watching, but in the real world celebrations are most definitely "in the game".

I did not know you can do that with the other game, that is cool. I believe I read it will be implemented similarly, which is nice.

I believe that is why they are making user controlled, I would not discount a little excitement from players that don't celebrate, but nothing over the top.

I believe the NFL just wanted to not have them be over the top and to scripted, the whole sportsmanship issue. I don't mind it in the game though.

Peace

I hope this will be one of many examples of EA bringing back old features not as they were, but greatly enhanced for next-gen hardware.

Madden'98 and Madden'01 had user controlled celebrations but they weren't as detailed as this new blog describes Madden'09s nor were there that many of them. While minor in the grand scheme of things, this is a good sign of things to come in my opinion.

I have been looking forward to user controlled celebrations, although being a Raiders' fan, I can't imagine that I'll have much to celebrate this year.

# 15 JBucc @ 04/14/08 06:51 PM
Sounds good, I just agree that I hope you can toss it to a ref. One thing I hated about APF was when guys like Barry Sanders would start dancing around in the end zone. Also get rid of the big "Y" above their head. Looks goofy and we don't need it. Anyway the player model in that pic looks good.

for me its the ability to let my emotions show in the game.

Did you not like the user controlled celebrations in 2k5?

# 18 loudiamonds1979 @ 04/14/08 07:44 PM
Yeah, Ea's about 4 years late. 2k5 also had halftime and postgame show. Man EA is lazy. I hope they improve the game but I'm not holding my breath!!!

How many times have we said that the past few years.

Time for EA to prove to the community that will be the best one ever and meet expectations, because you can only say it so many times and not prove it to the community majority wise.
