Give me a freakin' break. Anyone with half a brain know what went on here.

I honestly feel bad for the guys convincing themselves the game is somewhat enjoyable just so they don't feel like they just wasted $60. Obviously guys are genuinely liking the game... but I'm sure there are a few making lemonade out of those lemons.

Terrible, just terrible.

It's just that OBVIOUS Pared. plus the 360 crowd NEED to convince themselves this games good. it's their ONLY baseball fix...unless they have a PS3.

I respect your opinion, but I don't feel like I have to "convince" myself to like this game. I bought it and told myself if I didn't like it, I was trading it in for the Show. I really didn't expect much from it at all after reading impressions here, but I have found this game to be outstanding. Sure, it's all a matter of opinion, but I really haven't found myself trying to "convince" myself of anything.

It pisses me off in some way. I wanted to pick this up for the 360 despite the system being a ticking time-bomb to get some play over XBL.

Then I read all this garbage, how there aren't online sliders and so forth and I can't even consider this a purchase now. No idea when I'll get the chance to rent it, either.

Ugh.

Now, according to Flax, the demo isn't even a true representation of how the game plays.

I'd like to know what happened from the "glowing" previews from the guys here at OS to the result we have now.

That's cool that you're enjoying it but I'm sure there are others who are in the scenario I'm referring to from the impressions thread.

I've even had 2 guys tell me similar through PM's. Some Vets don't even want to post in the impressions thread to continue with the negativity. I don't blame them.

I have to disagree here. I have played every baseball videogame the last 10+ years and I can get games relatively cheap, so I'm not trying to convince myself of anything. With that being said, this game is a breath of fresh air and does so many things really, really well.

It's really sad that people are so quick to pass judgement on the game and think it's trash when it's actually really impressive.

Is it perfect? No. Is it the Show? No. But it immerses you in playing baseball like no other game can.

I was never a fan of 2K baseball. It was forced upon me when they decided to eliminate MVP Baseball. It makes me smile a little inside to see that this game has major issues. At least EA can make a half decent football title with their exclusive rights. I don't have to deal with 2k baseball with my PS3 now! Every game they release, we have to wait a month or so for a patch so that it plays decently. Yes, The Show has a few issues but it still is impressive right out of the mother****ing box!

It certainly makes sense for them. It's just shady business. If they knew they were putting out a quality product, they could release a demo early and get people excited. Instead, they knew the product had issues, held back the demo to get those extra sales and then released afterwards. This is all my opinion of course.

The unfortunate part of all of this is that the Xbox 360 consumer who loves baseball and only has once choice, gets hurt (unless they enjoy the game).

Pretty sad that it's becoming normal for companies to release unfinished games, charge $60 for them, and then promise to fix the issues next year. If it's a 3-year plan to get the game to be good, don't expect me to dish out money for the games in between that are a work in progress.

This series went down hill for me when I was excited to play some 360 baseball, boughtt 2k6 on release day and the disc didn't even work until they released a patch! This isn't too surprising to hear this game has some unfinished-type issues with it.

Just played the demo... and it's no wonder they had it held back.

I'll have to leave it at that as to not upset the sensitive individuals in this forum.

I honestly think they could have done more. Seems like it could be a passable video game, but an attempt at simulation baseball?

....

So is it true the demo runs smoother than the retail game? If so, I guess I'll pass this year...the demo wasn't bad but it was STILL a bit choppy at times...

# 30 gosensgo101 @ 03/05/08 12:46 PM
I'm downloading it now, but I'm prolly buying the game either way unless the demo completely turns me off because I didn't notice the framerate issues last year so it shouldn't bother me this year.

# 31 boomhauertjs @ 03/05/08 12:49 PM
I'll download the demo when I get home today. If I like the gameplay enough, I'll give the game a shot. I have a feeling the framerate issues won't bother me, but we'll see.

If I just don't like the game that much, I might just buy CH 2k8 this week and wait until a patch and/or price drop on MLB 2k8, especially I'm not really in a baseball mood yet.

The framerate on the Retail version of the game is much choppier than the demo.
talk about some false advertising there...demo smooth/retail version choppy...yeeah i'll pass

now i can get army of two

After playing the demo through a few times, I think this can be a great game if it gets smoothed out in a patch or something. The actual gameplay is fantastic. I picked up the pitching right away and it's really fun. I even like the swing stick which I hated last year.

I hope they can patch it.

# 34 SPTO @ 03/05/08 01:23 PM
I'll d/l the demo tonight if I still don't have the retail version in my hand.

Sheesh this is really early Feb. LOL

Apparently even that ruffled "fishstick's" feathers. My mistake for having an opinion.

The demo was great. Can't wait to get the full game. Best baseball game ever!

# 36 sportdan30 @ 03/05/08 01:56 PM
What I find ironic is that the people here who are enjoying the game were most likely the same ones who were vocal about how wonderfully smooth Madden '08 and NHL '08 played because they ran at 60fps without any hiccups. They further commented that there was no way they could play the PS3 versions of the game because they ran at 30fps and the frame rate stuttered. Now, the shoe is on the other foot, and they're trying to convince themselves the frame rate isn't a big deal.

Now, you know what us PS3 gamers had to go through with Madden and NHL. As much as you want to spin it, it just wasn't good enough.

I think Madden got criticized more for it's turnover issue than the framerate issue. From what I understand many PS3 owners were pissed because they felt if the 360 version did 60fps, then the PS3 should do the same thing and thought it "lazy" programming. But I think APF had the same issue.

Either way, I don't think people were saying Madden PS3 was unplayable because of the framerate - it was because of the 6+turnovers a quarter (I don't own the game, just saying that's what it seemed most people complained about). I think people are trying to equate Madden's turnover issue with MLB's framerate issue which is ridiculous imo. If MLB2K was some homerun fest, or there were tons of passed balls, then that would be equivalent. And that's why some people see the framerate issue as being blown out of proportion - the two issues aren't close to being proportionate it would seem.

I definitely love the controls in this game but I'm still not happy with the break on pitches...for example, a curve ball in this game does not seem to do much and then breaks at the end...on the Show (I don't have it - just based on videos I have seen) some of the curveballs look nasty/more realistic...

I know what you mean on the break of pitches. I think that has more to do with each individuals pitches. I have seen some very nasty sinker and curves.. but I also have seen curves that look more like changeups.
