Whether through the air or on the ground, Michigan State has found a way to rack up points against each of their opponents thus far. It doesn't matter what number they have next to their team name; they have beat up on everyone.
This has not been the season for an unranked Michigan squad. Unfortunately, seeing MSU at the Big House was not the antidote either. The Paul Bunyan Trophy will remain in East Lansing for yet another year.
This was intended to be a marquee matchup when non-conference scheduling took place this past offseason. Though the results are pleasing, the game failed to serve its purpose.
Maybe we'll make our way up to Autzen in the future...
Earlier in the decade, this had the makings of a serious rivalry. However, Wisconsin has not earned a win in this series since the inaugural B1G Championship Game.
This was intended to be the Game of the Week. (1) MSU and (7) ND met, as they do annually, and MSU ran right through them. After a Notre Dame touchdown on their opening drive, Sparty proceeded to score 54 unanswered!
Even more surprising, Notre Dame only fell 4 spots in the Top 25 to 11th...
Notre Dame Fighting Irish at Michigan State Spartans
In order to satisfy a previous recruit's promise, this game was scheduled. A win for Michigan State was inevitable, but 55 points did spark the offense.
Florida State stopped the pass, but MSU ran right through the Seminole defense. 315 yards of rushing offense kept MSU from being upset by the Seminoles.
The stats were neither promising nor telling, but a win is a win.

Due to the relative instability of re-alignment in NCAA football, the majority of commissioners in each of the FBS conferences and the majority of the respective Athletic Directors of the Independent schools have agreed to the following:
Effective immediately, Navy joins the Big East.
Effective immediately, Memphis joins the Big East.
As a result, the Big East is eligible for divisions and a conference championship.
As a result, the members of the East Division in the Big East are: USF, Cincinnati, Navy, Temple, Connecticut, and Rutgers. The members of the West Division in the Big East are: Boise State, Houston, Louisville, SMU, San Diego State, and Memphis.
To compensate for the dissolution of the BCS, the commissioners and Athletic Directors agreed to:
End conference ties to specific BCS bowls
To be clear, the AQ status exists for the ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten, PAC-12, and SEC. However, conferences are free to roam between BCS bowls. Periodically, non-AQ conferences will be evaluated for quality.
To compensate for the end of conference affiliation for BCS bowl games:
Effective immediately, protected rivalries will be instituted wherever possible.
As a result, the Conference USA, Big East, and PAC-12 all have created protected rivalries. Periodically, recently created rivalries will be observed for "quality control".
For the third time in the Big 10 Championship era, the Spartans and Badgers have met in the B1G Championship. And, for the second consecutive year, the Spartans came out on top. There wasn't anything dramatic, it was just a solid Spartan shutout.
Certianly in shape to execute, the Spartans had the guts to go up-tempo all game long. They racked up lots of yards and scored 55. However, they allowed 17 to Northwestern. That is a lot compared to stiffer opposition earlier in the year.
Perhaps the Spartans will only use it on a temporary basis in the future...
