Last year I played the season with the Sox and was disappointed that there was no difference in the sound regarding what part of the Green Monster the ball hit. Perhaps I played with the Sox one year too soon?
That's actually a good question, and while I can't give a yes or no (I don't know, I'm in the same position as you), it's something we might be able to infer from what we were shown in the stream. This goes into the stadium meshes I was talking about, and it's a good opportunity to explain it.

Notice how the top half of the monster (not including the seats, I mean the wall itself) is colored differently from the bottom half? Those are two different meshes and the game engine sees them as two different surfaces. That means that they can trigger different effects. Like, say, if a ball hits one of them. Just like Matt can now tell when a ball landed on Sheffield Avenue in Wrigley, the game has knowledge of exactly what surface the ball is striking on the Green Monster, and yes - theoretically could make a more metallic sound when striking the lower half of the board. Matt might even be able to say it hit off the scoreboard.

It's important to note this is only possibility - we won't likely know if it does these things unless devs tell us or we see it in the game. But this stadium tagging thing is the framework for things like that to happen. That's why those of us who understand it are really excited about said possibilities.

I am sure if MLB 2K17 was being released the Commentary would be mind blowing at this point.

Also I love that you here a woman from a studio talking about the match up before you enter the game. Now that they have MLB Network something like that should also be in MLB The Show!

Or if you go back to MLB 2K7 you even see outside shots of the stadium and fans walking around stadium Concourse. Hard to believe this was done 10 years ago and MLB The Show still has nothing like it

Yes, 2K7 was very polished for its time. Would love to see pre-game stuff like that in The Show.

Thanks for this. Hockey still has a ways to go. Ferraro is horrible and repetitive and does not feel part of broadcast. Doc and Eddie are pretty good but way too many repetitive lines.

I was asking and hoping for gary thorne and harold reynolds years ago. Gary thorne's commentary sounds more fluid and comes off like he was talking in a real life game. At least reynolds is in. Once the developers said matt is here to stay, it became more about only replacing the other commentators unfortunately.

You must've missed my posts. This is one feature that is just very underlooked in the baseball video game library. Only two games now will have featured this. Maybe they can start improving them year after year, where there can be "midway up the bleachers," "high up the scoreboard," etc. Even get Harold and Dan into the conversation as they continue it in the replay, and at the end of the inning.

One can really go places with features like this. It just depends on how far the developers ever plan to take it. Knowing SDS, this is just "year one" of including stadium tags, and next year we will get a 2.0 facelift even for this! Speaking of which...

I agree Gary Thorne is the best though I hate the Orioles. Very happy with additions though.

Even MLB2K announcers told us about batters stats vs pitcher on every at bat. The show finally doing this in MLB 17.
