I play mostly online, in a full gm connected with only a few computer teams, so I can't speak so much on CPU calls. I can say that I reitterate my original point about hitting from behind, as it is a HUGE problem online. Open ice hits in the back, most of which should be called hitting from behind, charging, holding something. The NHL Dev team seems to believe you can only be called for hitting from behind if you are up against the boards, and this is wrong. You cannot hit a player in the back at all, against the boards, it is usually called boarding, in open icem it is called checking from behind. Program it correctly for once.

It's going to be so weird seeing full coaching staff on the bench and 4 officials, and Ferraro between the benches. I feel like it'll take a while to get used to seeing hockey as it's supposed to look.

I'm going to have to check out FIFA's menu system. last gen's NHL menu system is really showing its age, so i'm really looking forward to it.

I gotta say I am not a big fan of the whol window tiles thing, and then having to move the right stick in tiles to get different modes, stuff just winds up hidden and hard to get there. Keep menus simple. I can navigate it, but this realy isn't a change I welcome.

Re: NHL 15: Hands-On Impressions

This release is looking good so far! I mean theres some bad, but if you expect perfection you can also expect disappointment.

Right now, the way things are looking, Im pleasantly surprised how 15 will turn out considering its the first NHL game on this generation of consoles.

Honestly, they could give me the new presentation with same gameplay and I'd probably still love it. I dont think I could describe in words how pumped I am for Doc Emeric, like seriously..

If we FINALLY get a new, epic, stanely cup celebration Im gonna be one happy camper.

The problem is that there aren't enough personalities on the ice.
Guys like Carcillo, Torres and Marchand should be taking penalties all the time for hitting from behind or trips.
Guys like St.Louis and Datsyuk should never be in the box.

In NHL14, the CPU is an angel regardless of who's on the ice.

So once again, when EA finally addresses the issue of having a clear distinction between player types and attribute levels, this, and many other issues, should go away.
Winner. I buy the game every year and enjoy it but it's never a hugely satisfying experience. It's hockey and it's the best/only option I have. I have a hockey addiction. I already know I'll be disappointed again this year, but it won't be goalies or goal variety or lack of penalties or even aesthetics like player models. It will be every single player playing exactly the same and the computer using Emelin to catch up to me when Ive got Hagelin fresh off the bench on a rush.

It very well could be an issue online, I don't play online and use custom sliders. Really the only aspect of the game that bothers me is the lack of neutral zone play and the occasional whacky physics with the puck.

Granted I'm no where near as critical or as nitpicky as some are though in general regardless of what sport series be it hockey, baseball or what have you, or which publisher is on the front of the box, so for me if the AI is a bit better in the neutral zone this year when appropriate and the physics on PS4 are as good as they're trumping them up to be, I'll be pretty happy.

All the new presentation stuff like 4 refs on the ice and the new play by play and NBC integration (btw that NBC swipe in that quick youtube Squintz was kind enough to share is pretty neat) for me is just icing on the cake for a game I enjoy quite a bit already.
