Yeah that's where the good parts end. But to be honest, I don't see playing against the CPU in CC having all that much replay-ability in my eyes - well, it depends about the CPU A.I in game and in terms of trades, roster, etc. and how many glitches occur later on in future years.
The draft was a joke. It was IMPOSSIBLE to trade up. You could offer Aaron Rodgers and two #1 picks and the CPU would NEVER accept. And you could continuously trade down and collect eight first round draft picks in the next year.

Why can't there be playability? If it doesn't suck, there should be plenty.

In Madden 08, Ive played many THIRTY season franchises and have played TEN season franchises in Head Coach 09. Same thing with NBA2k...

one really good thing about head coach 09, relating to draft picks, was that each GM had their own value for picks and how they wanted to build their team. Some overvalued draft picks and try to trade up often, while others undervalued them and would try to and trade down often.

The control I want is to set up practice schedules for my players, both team and individual drills. Give the team and players an area of emphasis and see whether they improve or not.

Same with the coaching staff. I want to say what areas I want them to concentrate improving in and see if they improve or not. I don't want the improvement to be a sure thing by gaining XP points.

I want the progression of players and coaches to be more realistic. That's just me. I can see why others like the new XP progression. It's just not for me.
In order to do that, the game would probably have to advance by the day (like Head Coach). That might be a little too much for the Madden crowd though.

Basically, what you want (myself included) is a true football simulation. There is no way that we are going to get that!!!!

Why would you have to advance by the day? Even in head coach you could simulate months at a time. Why would setting up practice schedules require being a day to day thing? Sierra Front Page Sports wasn't.

Of course you could sim thru it as far as you wanted, but to be realistic the player should be able to schedule activities on any day that they are available.

Y'know, after the release of the CC handbook / manual, I'm kind of surprised there hasn't been more skepticism re: the "point system" for progression...

The more I think about it, the more I think that it's crazy to have the "coach" decide who progresses and how much...

Players progress (or should) based on their production, experience and playing time...

If the AI progressed the players "tangibles" and the "coach" had the ability to reward some AWR points to guys who "worked hard / played hard" regardless of stats, that MIGHT make more sense...

I see that we have the option to let the AI do all or part of it for the USER, so I guess with some testing a "balance" like the one I alluding to might be possible...

I guess i would create a schedule for drills during the week and just sim that through training camp, give you a chance to change the training schedule for each preseason week. But really, how much would these schedules change? Once you set up a week of drills, that's probably what you want your team and individuals to work on the next week as well.

I just don't see this as a difficult or overly intrusive thing to do.

I could see daily that doesn't end up reoccurring for OTA's. But training camp and preseason, those schedules could be reoccurring throughout training camp and preseason.

I would also have team and individual drills throughout the regular season.

And then base progression off of this, players potential in each ability, coaches ability to teach in each ability, and so on.

I would also like to see minor injuries effect performance where a player can still play.

So I agree with your statement about scheduling daily, but this weeks schedule should carry over to next week unless you do change it.

To make it even simpler, I would have a button that has the CPU create a practice schedule for you if you don't want to do it yourself.
