Re: Madden NFL 13 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here (360, PS3)

My impressions of the Madden demo is that it looks soild. I have played about 5 games 4 with the Seahawks and 1 with the 49ers. I have lost all my games with the Seahawks but they have all been pretty close, and I won my only game with the 49ers. I still find zone coverage on All-Madden to be useless. They are always torchin my zones. AND obviously i'm not the only one having trouble with all of the drops even when they are wide open. I find running the ball to be fun. I love that Marshawn is able to actually run over people on All-Madden. I have gotten one user pick with Earl Thomas and that felt amazing. It's difficult to stop the run. Roy Helu is usually averagin 6 yds per carry. And am I the only one who has a hard time user tackling??

Madden 10's big feature was Pro-Tak. While Pro-Tak did add things to the game, the physics engine in Madden 13 adds everything that Pro-Tak claimed to add to the game and more.

Multiple hit tackles, cases in which players push the ball carrier to go past the first down line, and the overall feeling of struggling in tackles that was said about Madden 10 is way more true with Madden 13. I agree that at times it doesn't look nice, but it feels a whole lot better than what has ever been in Madden before.

Pro-Tak had a lot of "hugging" due to it being canned animation based and the "hugging" caused a whole lot of suction during plays. There's absolutely no suction in tackles now with Madden 13.

Also, maybe it's just me but I don't really see my players turning directions instantly when running. Whenever I run the ball and try to make a fast cut, the player has to adjust for a moment to change direction.

So yeah, I agree that the huge progress made in Madden 10 was lost in Madden 11 but Madden 13 (based on the demo) to me is a much better game in terms of feel. It does everything that Pro-Tak in Madden 10 was advertised to do, and adds on to it when it comes to the frequency of those things happening in-game as well as just an improvement in feel which thus makes Madden 13 (in my opinion) the better game.

Again....execution. Soley based on the demo (and again I will give the final thought on the retail version of the game) the game is very sloppy and half baked. I like the direction, we all want RTP, but the implementation based on the demo is not good at all. It looks downright bad. It may feel good and yes I have had some wow that was great moments...but far to often WTF moments. Not what I want when playing a sports game.

We shall see come the 28th

That is what I was trying to express yes. But many get angry. I will not provide retorts to anger. Their anger is for them to keep.

If someone gives you a gift and you don't accept it, who does it belong to?

I have to agree with CoRRuPTMiND93 here because although I hate to admit it, this game does "feel" good to play especially on very slow, movement doesn't have that turn on a dime feeling that has infuriated me to no end. And don't get me wrong folks I HATE EAs Madden franchise as a whole with a white hot passion but this game is dare I say....decent?. And as much as I love 2Ksports games, those ALWAYS need serious gameplay patches every year as well.
*Allen Iverson*.. FOUNDATION?...FOUNDATION???....WE NOT TALKIN BOUT THE 1ST GAME OF THIS GENERATION..WE TALKIN BOUT THE 8th GAME IN THE SERIES... FOUNDATION?!??!?... THIS GAME STILL DOESN'T HAVE TRUE REAL TIME PHYSICS, REALISTIC PLAYER MOVEMENT, OR REALISTIC OFFENSIVE AND DEFENSIVE LINE... AND WE TALKIN BOUT FOUNDATION???!!! *Turns hat backwards and leaves the podium*

Yes there are some weird moments but the game feels a whole lot better to me.

There's positives and negatives to the physics engine. It feels better and can create for some amazing looking plays. However, sometimes there are some weird tackling that happens that can look worse than when Madden had canned animations.

Overall, I will gladly take the positives of the physics engine instead of going back to canned animation with tons of suction that may not have had that many cases of looking strange.

X360...
Played as Wash vs Sea...
default everything...

My impression:
It was "Meh"...
The ragdoll "physics" are a little wonky - unnatural body positions occur often after tackle animations...
The lighting makes it very difficult to distinguish who's who downfield... esp during kicks returns amd longer pass plays...
The game speed makes the players' movements appear jerky and jarring...
Replays are very poor... the relevent portion of the play is almost always omitted...

I'm a little puzzled as to why Madden has all the familiar button commands every year but they keep relocating them on the controller as to slow the learning curve of an otherwise very simple game... example: tapping A was for sprinting for many years... now it's RT... BUT IT'S STILL JUST SPRINTING.... just seems a little convoluted if there's no change to the practical application.

Presentation was solid... familiar.

Matter of fact, it all felt "familiar"... I didn't get the feeling that it was broken... or revolutionary in any way...

"Meh"

Your previous post sounded like typical PC elitism to me.

Sorry if that's not what you meant.

This is not a accurate claim and you know it. You can not make this claim because some of us feel different than you do about the demo. I posted my impression soley on what I felt when I played the demo. No agenda and I do know exactly what I want, and unfortuanltey the demo did not provide it.

What I posted was simply my honest opinon of the game. While some will agree wiith me and some wont. I will never go out of my way to discredit anyone for enjoyng this demo. I have absolutely no right to steal anyones joy. Its not my style to do such a thing, and under the same token I feel no one has the right to make such claim because I dislike the demo.

In this situation we are both right for being true to ourselves. I dislike the demo and you like it, but we can not jump on anoyne else because they feel and see things differently. This is the world we live in, and its perfect that way.

What we need is for members in here to just respect other opinons and not make claims that are false.
Well said said my friend!!

Things I like about the game:
NFL Rosters
Really shiny
Its an NFL football game

Things I didnt like:
Kicking meter is garbage
You can run the same play over n over cpu doesnt adjust
All players do the same things celebrations ect.
Camera is all over the place and zoomed in to much
Hot routes, audible, menus a little slow
After play tackles are comical but dumb
After safety, the free kick camera is awkward
Field goal camera is junk
Players are too big for the field (scale is off)
Field goal net doesnt move
Halftime show is nil
Kick return camera should be adjustable
Replays are choppy looking
Running the ball has no merit or fun-factor
All players stick their fists up when running for tds, dumb!!
Menus and sorting thru stats is weak
The into is dumb and its the same primetime game everytime, what?
Coaches look like monkeys
