Never purchased that. I felt in Madden 12 a clutch player made a difference so going with that I would say yes.... And 50k is a butt load of xp lol sweet!

It is a combination of modes, but you choose which part of it you're playing. If you choose to play as a player, you're essentially playing Superstar. However if you choose to play as a coach, you're basically playing Franchise. So the short story is that yes, they did combine them, but you're not going to be forced to play the superstar portion unless you want to and vice versa.

As for the RPG thing, there is XP and you do use it to increase player attributes, but people have gone a little overboard with that. Think Call of Duty - it's a shooter, and there's no question about that. But you earn XP for meeting goals, and use that XP to buy gear that can help increase your performance. The basic idea, and to me the thing that people should be considering, is that it's similar to how other games of the non-RPG genre can contain an RPG mechanic while at no point ever being considered an RPG.

Ah, cool. That isn't so bad then. Thanks for the explanation.

In retrospect, they probably should have called them something like Training Points, to prevent misunderstanding from some people and overreacting from others. As an RPG and sports game junkie, it works for me as is.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

I wont be purchasing Madden 13 for the mere fact I think CC will have its issues, on top of the features that have been left out this year. BUT....I am optimistic for the future.

I dont mind that people are disappointed, and I get the skepticism, but its getting old hearing people moan like this is the same old EA routine. Yes, its still not perfect, but this new team seems passionate about the game, and the drastic improvements to several areas of the game prove that TO A POINT. I am willing to give this new team another year. If next year is another huge upgrade, I will be behind this team 100%. if they make it another Madden 11 (huge upgrades in 10, 11 merely a roster update and gimmick features), then Ill know its the same old routine.

How is connected career mode connecting us with our friends offline when offline is a single player experience?
4 Screen MP, 2Player offline Co-Op is being faced out slowly but surely. The growth of internet is changing what 'connecting with friends' means.

I really hope this doesn't get overlooked and think it should be relayed to Looman. The semantics of this mode seems to be causing avoidable misunderstandings and characterizations.

Great point.

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?

Yes - the 'closed' nature has completely turned me off of connected careers. I will have to wait until the dust settles after release and the user reviews start coming in before considering buying the game.

This situation reminds me a lot when next gen Madden was rolled out in 2006. The new game for the new system was hyped and people were jacked up for it only to be bitterly disappointed. I stuck with the PS2 version of the game through Madden 08 and didn't bother buying any next gen Maddens until Madden 11. If Madden history has taught me anything it's to temper expectations and be patient and save my money until the game reaches the point I'd likely enjoy it rather than be disappointed and bitter.
