I blame online players for this. If offline & online modes weren't merged, some of these features would not have been touched. That has to be the real reason.

Can't blame the consumer , online franchise needed attention , how this was done however is the issue

This is probably the most undersold things about CC at the moment. It seems that more than anything it's created some strong resentment towards online gamers from the offline franchise guys. I'm an offline franchiser and I don't see any reason to hold anything against them. It makes me wonder if the Online guys have had the same sort of resentment (e.g. it's all offline's fault) over the last couple years when offline got improvements and online wasn't hardly touched.

Offline had it all already, I see your point for online but the fact that you even had to express it as a choice is the issue, if CC had replaced online and SS and offline franchise left as an option and maybe merged as it were later when CC has matching customisation we would have one exited Madden community , I guess disc space prevents that tho tbh

I agree with the sentiment, until some guy tells me I'm cheesing by editing ratings or position changes must never be added because it can be exploited online.
Online franchise did need work

If the storyline is that static, then it wasn't designed very well. I would be shocked if they had static strings stored for tweets, etc. Everything about the story line should be parametrized and built up programmatically to be able to adjust to any changes in the roster. You say difficult. I say bad design decision.
