So I guess I don't understand why it's a big deal now, unless it's a case of the man who sniffed a blonde and now won't go back to redheads

Draft imports, equipment & number editing, play any game--these have long been staples, more or less, of the series going back to Madden 99. I understand the frustration about those. But editing ratings is lost on me.
The issue isn't the loss of editing ratings. The outcry is that there is no way for the offline player to edit anything at all. You mentioned yourself that the ability to edit ratings within your franchise was just implemented last year, most of the complainers understand this. We have however been able to at least edit the offline rosters to our liking before starting a franchise, thus allowing us to update our own rosters and depth charts. Connected Careers offline removes functionality that "have long been staples, more or less, of the series going back to Madden 99."

My point was, he still lined up at slot DB for OTA's.
Woodson is slowing down a little. They are going to see who the best two cover corners are. Those are the two that will start at CB. If Woodson is one of the top two COVER CORNERS then he will start at CB. If not, he won't. He will be used at the nickel position and probably at safety. Everything hinges on who are the two top COVER corners. GB doesn't know who is going to line up where until they get far enough into training camp and preseason.

Shields took a bit of a step backwards last year. The CB Coach is taking blame for that. Shields was used in sub packages his first year and performed much better than expected. The CB coach used special flash cards to get him ready before each game. Because GB used their base defense so sparingly last year, shields was in first, second and third downs (full time) and the CB coach didn't give him as much personal attention. Shields only played ONE year at CB in college. I'm hoping that he makes a big jump forward this year with an entire off season and training camp/preseason.

I know personally I have been editing ratings prior to starting franhise for many years, tho my memory fails me as to when it was first introduced and thus it belongs on that list with equal billing.
Really to isolate one aspect is missing the point its the total lack of customisation that is the issue I have whether its positions, ratings names or anything

IMO CC Is more an online SS mode with the option to be a coach that resembles HC09 (without the ability to change player position that was in that game)
Long term and big picture that promises to be a good thing but it lacks 3 major (to many) options that were franchise staples and maybe isn't ready to replace franchise this year

Re: Sound Off: Has the 'Closed' Nature of Connected Careers Turned You Away?

None of the people who will miss editing are negating the advancements the Madden devs have made. The popular misconception of those opposed to allowing editing is that we (the protesters) are somehow berating the advancements of connected career. WE ARE NOT. Connected careers is a wonderful idea until you delve deeper into the offline portion. By trying to make each element equal, they have taken away control of the offline player. Control that is necessary in order to ensure customization of the way you play. We are not asking that full customization be reimplemented, but rather that the devs at least allow us the ability to update our offline connected careers roster. That is all. If you have the ability to get EA's updated rosters, that's fine, but for those who for whatever reason can't this is all we are asking. Is that too much?

You...really need to calm down a bit. And if you read all 50+ pages of this thread, you'll see that some are singling out the inability to edit ratings as being their biggest issue. My question was obviously to them, and apparently didn't apply to you. But I'm done with this thread, because apparently a question that specifically was looking for clarification and NOT argument cannot be met with any type of logical discussion and is instead viewed as an attack.

The good news is, the release of 13 does not mean that Looman will enter your house and break your copy of 12. Have fun.
