I can deal with game play issues such as, QBs holding the ball too long or the issues with 4 verts. What I can't deal with are the bugs. The tendency issue is inexcusable. The freezing is inexcusable. The dynasty progression issue is disgusting.

How can anyone else make a competing NCAA football or NFL football game when EA owns an exclusive license? Personally, I don't see other sports games or shooters, etc as other suitable goods.

I understand the NFL owns the IP; I just think it's wrong that they agree to the license in the first place.

But hell, we all know the NFL hates any form of competition unless it's amongst themselves.

I'm not arguing the point that it's legal, I'm arguing whether it's ethical.

I am not pro exclusivity. Not sure why it wouldn't be ethical. Its their property their business. I dont see an ethics issue. Multiple licensed football games aren't a God given right.

While I'd love to see it opened up again, I'd really be against governmental intervention forcing them to open up the license. That's a slippery slope IMO.

Ethics doesn't necessarily have to pertain to God given unalienable rights. At it's base it relates to right and wrong.

Competitive markets are the foundation of capitalism. Right now, there is not a competitive market when it comes to either NFL or NCAA football video games.

I don't think limiting the consumer from purchasing a suitable good and similar quality product is fair. You can argue whether or not COD is similar to NCAA football, but personally I don't think it is.

Is a Lady Gaga album the same as one from the Beatles? They're both music...

But I agree, I think the government has enough real issues on their hands. They don't need to get involved in video game politics.

I just wish EA would end this exclusivity license. I don't think it's right to limit longtime, loyal customers into buying an inferior product, a product that with competition would be improved.

I believe packaging minimal improvements and bugs/errors in the game as "new and improved" (because you can thanks to your license) is morally wrong.

At what point did it become more about making the $$$$ big bucks $$$$, getting as many sales as you can, squeezing every last dollar out of your customer? I feel it should be about providing a benefit to your consumer and turning a profit in return. To me it's a little bit sleazy, an unethical business plan.

You might not see it that way, which is fine, you're welcome to your own opinion, that's just my take.

The NFL has always licensed their IP to single companies, and the NFL is always about money first and foremost they were not receiving the same revenue spreading the rights out as they would with EA paying them. The only reason people get pissed is because of the perceived, quality of the game since the deal. But that's been argued ad nauseum on OS and is veering way off topic. I don't like the solitary license either BTW though its their IP and no one can tell them what to do with it

As for NCAA never in its existence has it had a quality game made by an opposing company anyway so I've always felt that was a waste of money by them. I also think outside of the freezes, which are unacceptable in any game, overall NCAA is an entertaining title. Now the one thing I AM worried about is the Keller lawsuit and the potential of editable/sharable rosters being removed due to EA losing the case.

Fair enough, I accept your take on the NFL. The NFL is a business and I guess the day the NCAA became more concerned about money, than enriching student athletes, the same could be said.

As for "NCAA never in its existence has it had a quality game made by an opposing company" that may be true. But with competition game developers are able to see what other companies do and adjust/replicate to new innovations. I imagine it only would of been a matter of time.

Look at the NBA 2k vs NBA live scenario. NBA 2K embarrassed Live to the point it got cancelled. However, because of that competition, I bet NBA Live/Elite comes back better than ever (if it gets released.)

Like you said, this has gotten off topic and we're back to the age old debate. I honestly don't even remember how this tangent originated, so I'm going to stop talking about it now.

LionsFanNJ and bkrich83, I am glad we were able to discuss this in a civil manner without anyone getting obnoxious. So for that, thank you.

Man its only going to get worse

EA blocks Forza 4 getting Porsche "This kills me," says Turn 10 chief

All this exclusive Pre-Order deals and DLC milking is rotting this industry to the core....

EA have been a leading figure head in this type of business model.....
Tying this back to "game quality" and this thread.....the EA suits have been focusing way too much on flashy marketing campaigns/DLC while cutting actual game development to make the quick buck.....

I really hope that new guy from fifa brings/demands a new attitude from EA
