I wouldn't consider myself lacking intelligence. I knew this would be the case as simply changing the title of the game is not going to do anything to change the real issues taking place behind the scenes.

The big issue here is the mentality of EA Sports. As I have said before, lack of competition usually leads to the belief one is untouchable, better than they actually are. They sell these games in the condition they are because they can. We buy them because there is no other alternative available. 2K didn't step up and the company everyone believed would down the giant failed.

EA has given itself a huge head start on the competition by eliminating it. Unfortunately, they have pretty well secured their place on the current gen consoles. At this point, it is simply a revenue game, in other words, "How much do we HAVE to change to keep our customers buying?" In this scenario, the quality of the product takes a back seat to profit.

I think we are just starting to realize this, and EA is just beginning to "burn its bridges." The issues we are encountering now are becoming more and more repetitive and EA is starting to lose face with the consumer. How many of you still remember the pump fake glitch from last year? How many of you thought about that glitch when buying this year's game? I did. Eventually those thoughts start to compound and over a period of time people start to notice a pattern, eventually that pattern will lead to an awakening of sorts and consumers will quit buying the game.

The arrogance displayed by EA Sports this year only reinforces my belief of what is taking place with this company. How about the Sports Illustrated commercial that touts NCAA series as the number one sports game on the market. As opposed to what? How many football games with the license are there to choose from?

The only way we will be able to put a stop to this disturbing trend, is by hitting them where it hurts... their wallets.

Sincerely,

A long time customer

I don't know if it can really be put much better than this.

Look, when Madden 05 and 2K5 were out, I played both, as many did, ...and I preferred Madden still. The difference is, one was driving the other to be better. And as a result, no matter which you preferred, you got a quality game.

Back on topic, I was planning on buying NCAA on day one this year. I haven't had a new NCAA Football game since 08, and had read / heard overwhelmingly good things about last year's game. (I bought Madden in 10 and 11, and both wound up traded in). For one reason or another, I decided to hold off a bit on NCAA this year. And from the looks of things, I'm glad I did. Now I can wait for it to get its issues patched, see if the patch not only fixes the existing issues but also keeps the things that are working in tact, and still get it for $30 or $40.

Numbers may say otherwise, but you get the feeling, EA has finally crossed that line and are starting to turn off a lot of long time customers. This year's NCAA effort and the way the issues have been handled with it really leave us as customers feeling like they really couldn't care less. It's very unfortunate.

I really hope this Patch restores the NCAA crowd, this game is acouple of steps away from being great..

- Roster Bug (sound like they fixed it)

- Depth chart logic with overall rating (that's their design, sounds like no fix)

- Multiple Freezes (appeared to be fixed)

- Custom Playbook (fixed)

- Coach Prestige Progression (he said it was fixed in the interview)

These are some of the headaches I have with the game and most of them are going to be fixed (Hopefully).

I am finally seeing the lyte on this, and am seriously doubting getting Madden, at the very least with in the first few weeks.

My slider sets I have, all the tweaking I have done, gameplay, rosters, the whole nyne...all that stuff is spectacular. It has made for a great playing game.

However, back in the "good ole' days", I never had an issue with freezing that I am now. And there is no slider to adjust the freezing rate. It is frustrating to no end.

I've tried playing the same game 3 times 3 straight days (Nebraska @ Penn St.-I have yet to win @ Penn St. through 5 or 6 years, so for me it's a big rivalry.). Everytime, under 2 minutes to play, it freezes on me. You can't just play through that.

Just a video game? Yes. But for me, it is also a hobby that I enjoy and spend a lot of spare time.

Bike riding is a hobby too. Let's say I go for a 5 mile ride. 3 days in a row, the chain pops off everytime with 1 mile left to go and I can't fix it. Same principle.

My opinion.

Sorry for the rant.
I have seen a ton of this with the freeze bug. I personally have only had 3-4 instances of a freeze and it was only in my dynasty hub menu...never during a game.

Yep it is a bug. I just have not experienced nearly as much as a lot of people.

I'm curious as to what the legal reasoning from EA and their defendants is for the licensing agreements not to interfere with monopoly/competition prevention regulations.

Does anyone know the history of this? Was Madden and EA the first company to sign exclusive licenses?

I believe (and i'm no expert by any stretch) that being the sole maker of an NFL (or NCAA) game doesn't constitute a monopoly because they aren't stopping anybody from making football games in general. It goes against all gamer common sense and shows how a lot of those laws were made long before issues like this could arise, but i believe that's why it's not considered a monopoly in that sense.

Last year i waited to buy madden until black friday when Best Buy did the "all EA sports games are $35" deal. Best decision i ever made, i played the game a few times and felt like i spent a reasonably low amount of money on it. Definitely recommend this route.

On a side note, i actually waited until mid-December and got NBA2k11 for $39 at Target, so waiting has a lot of perks, even on well-made games.
