There's actually defense this time...

The presentation looks great, game plays fairly solid. Those deep lob money plays seem like they're gone. Didn't see any superman LBs... Tackling looks and feels way better. The play calling is gonna take a little getting used to.

3 things prevent it mainly from feeling like football:

1. Animations
EA's next-gen football games have always had very quirky animations. The players don't give the illusion of running, cutting or jumping. They just kind of glide across the field.

2. Passing Game
Once again, the passing game doesn't get any love. There is still barely any control in the passing game. Its either a bullet pass or lob, nothing in betweem. Putting any touch on the ball is impossible.

3. Weird interactions between players
When WR's and DB's bump its a very akward and weird interaction, like the engine doesn't know what to do. I think EA needs to implement the physics system from their NHL and Fifa series to help in these situations. Bumping and small interactions need to be much more realistic.
i agree especially on #1, they need different throwing animations and running animations to make these guys feel different. They also really need to nail foot planting because guys slide and make such unrealistic movements when cutting and running. I think thats why it feels so fast for people, because there doesn't seem to be weight or foot planting that contribute towards the physics in the game.

to me they spent too much time on team run outs and not enough time on making the game feel fresh. while its better than 2011 it still feels like the same game.

The grass only looks 3-d after the play when it is zoomed on the field. When you are in-game it looks exactly the same as usual to me.

Two words describe this game. "No defense".

2 in quarters on all madden every game I've played I've put up 35+ points with ease. I'll pass.

For me... play action has been amazing! especially with Texas and Bama. I've not had a screen get blown up of course I've ran it on down and distances where you would expect blitzes. Same with play action... I feel if I set it up and run it after a fake snap it opens up well. Derron Thomas ran on me which made me incredibly happy.

With Bama D I noticed myself getting frustrated with Hightower because I wanted him to be right there and it felt he had no acceleration what so ever, but I'm all for it. Also Manuel completed only 2 of 8 passes both screens... he threw the ball away every other time. I feel like he would scramble in some of those situations?

As for dreads and people complaining... how many of the complainers actually do your own rosters or make the edits and how many of you just download someone elses work? While I know it's annoying right out of the box it will be easily fixable.

Good game overall I'm more than happy with the outcome after some tweeks. Oh and I play on All-American and feel a good challenge which is a relief. I actually lost to Oregon 17-7 the last game I played
