I actually found this out through a vm from Gamestop while I was at work. I thought it was just confirming my pre-order from Sat. but it was to say that it was delayed and I could pre-order 2K11 instead, if I wanted, which I may or may not. I might just pick it up at Best Buy, instead, that morn.

While I do love playing the demo (it's on pause, now), after being appalled, at first, I still believed that EA should taken an extra year to round out this game in a better manner. The controls are on to something grand, imo, and there needs to be more built around.

I did really want to play the full game but this is a wise decision to delay it yet it would be an even wiser decision just to bypass Elite 11 and go straight to 12 in Oct. of next year. I'd prefer that but I'm still leery of what can really be done with that limited engine. The demo seems like the game is extremely stripped down to make it the way it is in it's current state. I believe rEAnimator said the demo was completed about 2 weeks before final code, if I remember that right. I could be wrong.

I'm also wondering if this wasn't a lil experiment to begin with by dropping the demo to see how gamers would respond. Obviously, it was overwhelming negative hence the delay but if there was a more favorable response, we may still be looking at 10/5 happening for this pup. Just speculating.

Whatever the case, I hope they can do something much more grand by next year. Those controls had me hooked. NEVER had as much fun with a b-ball game as I have with the Elite 11 demo. Real talk...as they say, these days. Heh.

Re: CONFIRMED: NBA Elite 11 Delayed until 2011

well...i offer this bit of advice to the EA devs: start with the movement. mo cap, mo cap, and more mo cap...get the realistic human movement down and expand out from there...that is how 2k nailed their game and that is the way it is done. of course, 2k has slowly been building on their locomotion and animations for years...so i'm not sure you can pull it off in one dev cycle...but the biggest glaring problem with Elite is simply that the player movement looks fake and "animated" rather that captured from life. really study human movement and create a locomotion and animation branching system that is deep, versatile, and smooth...and make sure all these animations react responsively to controller input and without delay. the competition are masters of movement and their attention to detail in terms of executing animations that are appropriate for the momentum/situations of the players is amazing.

what I see in Elite is a lack of respect for real movement and physics. I don't know if this is because the devs can't see it, or they are making it that way on purpose...either way, that is the area to start. Live 10 had a good foundation in that regard, so to see Elite scrap all of that was strange to me. go back to square one....start with Live 10 and simply build Elite's new control into Live 10.

took the words right out my mouth, live 10 was an amazing basketball game minus the glitches.. i say it was way better then 2k10..... if they can somehow incorporate RTP, the new skill based shooting with the addition of the "grey zone" (explained in one of my previous posts), improve the graphics, so we can have the best looking basketball game ever... theyd be miles ahead of 2k
