nba jam should of been released for ps3 & xbox 360 from day one.. ea in 2010 been a year of fumbles for them i see and im disappointed as a EA 15 years strong supporter. I bought every basketball release since day one and after this i believe i dont have any more faith in them.. that demo was horrible in every way and the controls where the WORST. seriously why change the controls makes 0 sense to me really do..

Good.,, So now they can get their sh*t together, because they were about to release the worst basketball game in the Live/EA series.

I dont think you have this kind of delay unless the issues are undeniable and not once even after the bad impression of the demo did any of the devs. even hint at a delay. Where is the trust? Which is a shame because like I said earlier in this thread rEAnimator has been one of the most candid devs. I have seen on OS.
I didn't know about this until this morning.

This is like a movie being delayed because the trailer was panned and the early critic reviews were negative. Movie Studios dont delay movies for the good of the consumer. They do it because it cost money to ship, print and advertise the movie and they are cautious about losing money.

EA recognized they were about to take a huge loss and made a financial decision. Thats it. The demo was being panned by hardcore and casual gamers and EA realized that catching a brick with the first version of your "new" brand is disastrous for this yr and the future.

EA didnt delay the game for you the consumer. They did it for the long term financial viability of their NBA basketball series.

You are a smart man aholbert32. This move will also hurt EA big time...They will never be able to compete with 2K now. 2K will become the new Madden...

Re: CONFIRMED: NBA Elite 11 Delayed until 2011

This is all I've got to say right now: Obviously you guys have a strong voice as a community. I've been applying to be able to post on these boards since late Live 09, and was finally able to some time earlier this year. I've met Da Czar, Pared, HoosierDaddy, Sovartus and a number of others, and discussed with many more of you online. It's intimidating and humbling at the same time having access to the opinions of so many experts, but the only reason I wanted to post here was to solicit the feedback from those that are most passionate about these games.

I'm not here to discuss decisions made that I can't control, but I will say that whether it was via patch, or the new delayed product, I'm looking to you guys as the community with the megaphone to continue to be vocal about what you want.

End cheese. As rEAnimator said it's been a long day, but just know that if I'm not as vocal, I'm reading every post and taking notes.

I wish you guys all the luck. I know this must have not been an easy decision, but I respect their decision. I think a lot of games need to take this approach.

Re: CONFIRMED: NBA Elite 11 Delayed until 2011

Wow, lot of emotions in this thread, and now that I think about it, that's to be expected. This is big news, for us the hardcore NBA fans, EA (the devs esp), and for this franchise.

You might feel this is a purely by-the-numbers decision, aimed at reducing losses incurred had "Elite" released in its current condition....

You may feel EA deserves praises, for "looking out for the consumer" and "taking community feedback seriously"....

You may feel like your intelligence has been insulted, certain that had the response to the demo been slightly less negative, this would have released, and devs would still be here two weeks from now praising "Elite" for its "revolutionary" control, w/commercials playing claiming it has "unprecedented features for a basketball game"...in other words, EA woulda kept their game face on pretending this was complete when WE ALL KNOW IT WASN'T....

For me, it's all of the above.

But as a hardcore NBA/Basketball gamer, I saw this headline, and almost smiled literally. Sometimes, though business is business, and profits trump all, in the end, we win. We won with this whole development today. EA made a business decision, and the result is in everybody's best interest, and that's why I'm happy. Who cares about anything, really, except the fact that we are going to get a BETTER game out of this.

Every day at work (VZW), I make purely business decisions. A single-line customer on her eighth Storm, is getting another Storm replacement. A customer with 25 business lines, on their 3rd, heck I will probably tell the rep to upgrade her to her choice of device, WITH a discount.

Why? Because it's worth it. They'd lose $$ by not releasing "Elite" but a TON less by cutting it short right now, and getting to work on "Elite/Live" 12.

Which brings me to my next thought: I doubt we'll see an "Elite 11" at all. I think releasing "Elite" 11 is another business decision that won't make sense, whether it's January or April. I think conference calls are happening now that are debating not just whether or not to cancel 11, but more-so "How do we break this to them in the most positive light possible? How will we spin it to still look good?"

What I'm hoping (and why I put the "Live" in the last paragraph, lol) is that they reopen the code for Live 10, and try to find a way to marry it with parts of the new system they tried with "Elite" (if this is even possible). I don't even know, maybe like have real physics trigger in a congested lane or something. But just keep ALL OF LIVE 10 intact, and build off it. More sig, more personality, revamped Dynasty, fully fleshed out online options. Maybe full dynamic half- and post-game shows showcasing dynamic footage from around the league (they were on to something with the saved replays playing on the bigscreeen. "Rebrand" it Live again, and announce they're going back to the "Soul of the game."

Fire Littman and NEVER let him near the studio again. Honestly guys, doesn't it kinda tick you off that the actual devs (rEAnimator, stepsix) are here all day, defending a game that is the result of HIS vision, and where has he been. His vision has been met with 99% negative feedback, and these guys are here on the frontline defending it.

Why isn't Littman here explaining to us why it isn't important to have in-game injuries, and true to life signature animations? Ugh
