I didn't even get to try the demo before the game is delayed. Didn't look THAT bad from 2 vids I watched.

I wanted to get this game on Tuesday........Hopefully, EA is going to blow us away in 2011 when the game is released.

No one said "wait for" anything after the demo was released. No one said the patch will fix most the problem. No one from EA anyway. You just made that up now. We weren't trying to fool you.

We genuinely like the game and are going to be working hard to address the concerns people have brought up.

This has been a tough day, I think I need to step away for a bit...
Geoff and Fraser, thanks for everything that you're both doing. Much respect for your commitment!

From an old EA fan dying to see EA go back to the top, this is news I was hoping for. Let's just hope it all works out. Everything was sounding good until the demo came out.

And I don't remember reading that anyone from EA said the patch would fix most things...
You know, Pdawg, I think I agree with you here. I've had the feeling through this whole "OS Elite Debacle 2010" that the people directly involved in creating the game (Reanimator, others) have said about as much as they should, considering this game is the way they make money to survive. They were pretty honest. If I were interested in keeping my job, I'd be up front, but in a protected, positive, and optimistic manner, as they seemed to be. I don't think there's any way that a developer, no matter how up front he wanted to be, could come out and say something like, "Guys, in all honesty, I couldn't in good faith recommend this game to you, but please go buy it anyway."

Who's to say how all this stuff really broke down, but to me, it feels like this was a group of guys who decided to attempt to revolutionize the NBA video game market, tried their best, came up very short, tried to make the best of the situation at hand, and then suffered a giant step back and dissapointment in being delayed.

I'd surely stop short of saying, "Well done EA!" but I do believe a delay is the right move. I have to believe this is tough news to take for anyone involved in the creation of that game though.

I recognize that this has definitely been a tough day for you. I'm not going to go point by point with you and I'm not even trying to argue. I wont be misquoted though. I never said that any EA dev said "wait" after the demo was released. I said EA told us to "wait until we play the demo before passing judgment". After the demo was release came the patch discussion. I didnt make anything up and have no reason to.

This isnt meant to be an attack on you and please dont take it this way. I'm just dissapointed at everything that lead up to today's decision.

I agree with this. Problem is I as a consumer feel like they just tried to sell me a product that wasnt the "final goal". I have been saying I loved the demo as a base game ,but it wasnt anywhere near close to being gold. And if the negative outlook hadnt been ridiculously obvious they would have gone gold with it anyways.

I dont think you have this kind of delay unless the issues are undeniable and not once even after the bad impression of the demo did any of the devs. even hint at a delay. Where is the trust? Which is a shame because like I said earlier in this thread rEAnimator has been one of the most candid devs. I have seen on OS.
