Re: Madden NFL 11 Demo Available Now, Please Post Impressions Here

My dbs have brick hands. In the 4 3 games I have played my dbs have dropped about 8 ints. I hope this is better in the retail version

Im still trying but on all-madden its just impossible for the colts to run. I tuned down the jets run d reaction time and block shedding but they still are swimming past my blockers or ripping through them as soon as i snap the ball.

Because I do like this game I will also say something good about it. Just like ncaa it seems like the teams play just like they do in real life. The jets blitz me on every down and I have little time to throw the ball but i also have little time to throw when I am playing with the jets because freeney and mathis is always in the backfield. Also you better run a lot of zone with the colts d or your dbs are going to conistently get burned on routes were they have to stay with a wr

Re: Madden NFL 11 Demo Available Now, Please Post Impressions Here

Ok, after d/l last night, I played three games today (PS3). Initial thoughts:

Graphics: Better, obviously. I liked the lighting (wish it were progressive) and the face scanning makes a difference. The players and coaches actually look like themselves now.
Also, for PS3 users, the sideline players actually have numbers this year, instead of all zeroes. The players' uniforms all look to be brand spanking new through out the game. I don't mind that, as NCAA also has lack of dirty uniforms. Perhaps this can be patched....

Sound: It's been stated that due to size, alot of audio had to be cut out of the demo. This is clear, as there's way too much dead air, and the crowd gets silent as if a player is laying on the field paralyzed or something in between snaps. If demo size was the problem, this should be noticeably better in the retail version.

Gus adds life, but to me, it sounds like the radio guy. He was enthusiastic as well.......

Collinsworth is basically using the same lines as last year. I didn't care to hear him call Gus, "Tom". Although to be fair, Ian apparently said this was fixed for retail.

Gameplay: Geez, where do I start? Enough have complained about the strategy pad. Although I figured out how to use it, the CPU snaps the ball waaay too fast to make proper adjustments. Very frustrating.

Kickmeter-----for me, it makes it challenging to kick a field goal. I missed two within 30 yards. Good thing I guess, just takes some getting used to.

Gameplan (Or gameflow, whichever it's called): I don't like it. The "coach" is annoying, and it seems to be catered more for the beginners, what with the way he describes what's supposed to happen on every play. I know-- a playaction is supposed to fool the defense into thinking it's a run, then I hit my open receiver. Thanks for that, coach...

Overall: Minor step up from 10, which I thought was a HUGE leap from 09. I'm probably skipping Madden this year, because I already bought NCAA 11, and am having much more fun playing that game. Also, I can't afford both titles.Overall, this felt to me like M10 with some minor upgrades, which could've been patched in last year,(i.e. sideline catches).....

Cutscenes in the demo: I kicked off the ball out of bounds and got rightfully penalized. But my coach discussed it with the ref anyway. This will get old quick, I believe. It did last year.....
Also, seems the same celebration cutscenes are in. I.e. the chest bump.

I believe what Madden really should try is adding real time presentation and eliminate cutscenes altogether. But that's another story.....

I've already updated my M10 rosters, and besides the schedule being off, I'll just play M10 to get my NFL fix. In the meantime, I'm enjoying the heck out of NCAA.

Peace.

Some DB's have a higher catch rating, but they do drop a ton of passes, but that isn't any different then it was in Madden 10. If they did catch all the easy passes thrown their way, there would be like 10int's a game

Can anyone confirm if on the demo, they purposefully reduced the amount of replays and stat banners? At e3 they had replays on almost every other play. Here, they are almost as infrequent as madden 10.

I'm playing the demo on the ps3.

My initial impressions after three games..this feels like wide open gameplay that NCAA had a few years back. Offense has too much of an advantage this year. Just driving it up and down the field at will and I'm playing on All-Madden. My receivers are constantly burning the defenders and don't get me wrong the jets have a decent receiving core, but not this good.

I actually found the JETS D very easy to beat due to the fact they blitz so much....Was playing on ALL-Pro with some slider tweaks to the Jets Pass D/Run D...

But that individualism of teams seems to be in place...Colts pass and cant really run worth a lick, Jets run well and have an aggressive D...Hope that pans out in the final version. Being able to adjust the CPUs gameplans is actually kinda sweet IF it works well.

Yeah, the lack of defensive plays is the reason why we've all had to make a ton of changes at the line. I could care less about cheesers, but I usually make a bunch of defensive adjustments just to get a realistic play that's not in my playbook, a good zone blitz for instance.
