I'm not going to try to paint a picture that isn't there. I call it like I see it. Much of the gameplay was not very much improved. I've never really been an NCAA player or fan, but after playing the demo for that game, I had high hopes for the same type of gameplay to show up in Madden. I know they added locomotion, but I honestly didn't notice it much.

Just because I really WANTED Madden to be this great revelation in football gaming, I'm not going to try to convince myself that it is just because I don't want to accept what it really is. Like the saying goes, "it is what it is".
You really should know what you are talking about before you hit submit. Guess you missed the posts about how bad I think the animation system is and EA needs to dump this old engine etc..

Madden's far from being a GREAT football game and that isn't what this is about but I'm glad you tell it like it is.
News flash: Most of us do.....

People can complain all they want. I could care less and welcome it to help make the game better.

BUT: People want the game to move forward so EA adds a function of football that is totally an OPTION "Gameplanning" and it's a gimmick and a waste.. yada yada yada...

Again it's fine to point out flaws and make suggestions. Just try and do it with talking out both sides of your mouth.

Re: Madden NFL 11 Demo Available Now, Please Post Impressions Here

I wouldn't have as much issue with the Strategy pad if not for two issues:

1. NCAA uses the old system so we're all going to have to know 2 systems which is confusing.
2. From what I've read you must make a selection, then wait for it to register, then make another selection. This is a huge issue from most of us who will memorize the menus and try to make immediate corrections and not have our second choice register.

I'm hopeful the old system comes back in via a patch, but I seriously doubt it. If nothing else if we yell like stuck pigs loud enough to EA maybe it can come back in Madden 12.

Is the PS3 version out yet? This reminds me when they changed the tackle button. I still haven't gotten used to it.

Maybe ... just maybe ... it's a gameplay change that might take more than a couple of hours to adjust to?

Even by the end of my first game, I was successfully making pre-snap adjustments using the Strategy Pad.

(I wasn't redesigning plays from scratch at the line which, I suspect is the hart of the complaint here.)
Exactly....

Re: Madden NFL 11 Demo Available Now, Please Post Impressions Here

Ok, so i fired the DEMO up at work about 2 hours ago. Me and about 7 others have played quite a few games thus far here are some initial impressions based on their and my impressions (we have all played madden since 94 mostly).

-Strategy Pad is a bust. it functions and works, but none of us like it.

-Player models....Why all the BIG HEADS on the players? That one was buggin me for a bit, then it hit me....The players bodies and heads are completely out of proportion.

-Gameflow is cool...It just takes some time to work out and needs a gameplan...

-The engine itself needs to go...Addition by subtraction is NO LONGER gonna cut it, especially since we have this generation of consoles for another 3 yrs at least. This engine isnt gonna last til then.

-Aside from 1 person, commentary is stale and Gus is out of place.

-For 2 teams with completely differant styles, they sure do feel exactly the same overall. Might just be us idk.

-After "fixing" the super-human LB last year for the most part, they have returned....

I/we just feel that madden overall is stale and needs...something...Atmosphere, emotion...something. Its just too much of the same over again. Locomotion WILL be better in the retail version, but overall i still feel like i did earlier....Kinda bored with it. I am only a solo franchise guy as are most here at work...so a shallow franchise mode isnt helping me feel any better.

Re: Madden NFL 11 Demo Available Now, Please Post Impressions Here

So yeah the tackling slider going need to be upped in the retail version. I seen Santonio Holmes break 5 tackles along the sideline. It would have been different if he finesed his way, but he straight trucked his way over people and through people like he was Adrian Peterson. Because of that he turned a 5 yard pass into a 45 yard pass.

Running out of the shotgun is easy. Running up the middle is great. Nothing like cutting back and watching the LB dive and hit nothing but air.

LB's and DB's over all are a pain in the butt. They swat down way too many passes, as though they got 10 foot arms. The throwing accuracy is way off too. Because they miss wide open people by 15 freaking yards. I was just watching the cpu QB and I was like wow how can constantly miss wide open people THAT BAD.

So yeah by default it looks like this game won't be great out of the box and major slider adjustments going to be needed. Because that accuracy, tackling and swatted balls thing is easily noticed after 3 plays. I mean it REALLY stands out.

Noone complained about the old presnap menu as far as I know, so what are you and other dood talking about?
Who said they did ask for a presnap change?
Also I wasn't aware that EA could only make changes if the community ok'ed it.

The D-pad is SIMPLE to use and hasn't taken long at all to get used to. It's simply a "You messed in my sand box" change ..hense the "uproar"

I do wish that they had made it an option so those that don't like it could go back the old way. Options are good...

Either way...
Back to impressions.
