and you can forget about individual adjustments on defense as well. maybe this doesn't bother you as much as it does me, but for someone who derives almost all his football playing pleasure from the x's and o's, this is killing me.
I agree

Heres an example from me on just a basic D Setup:

one I like to use is that could have multiple variations depending on Run or Pass,

3-3-5 Nickle LB Rams(Or for the Demo Jets,Prowl Bear Blitz)
Pinch the Line
Hot Route Two of the LBs into yellow zones and shift to wherever the most Wrs are lined up....but then switch back to the Blitzing LB and move him to rush off the edge

Then maybe I'll shift the D-line some more as well

This is just basic stuff that I do and its already been hampered by this "strategy pad"

For you guys who are "getting used to it"??? are you making changes like the one I just listed

Edwards 11 rec 285 yds 4 Tds(46,51,55,88)....Yeah All-Pro is way too easy. The deep ball seems way too effective...

Re: Madden NFL 11 Demo Available Now, Please Post Impressions Here

The reaction of the NCAA 11 devs (or even the Fight Night Round 4 devs for that matter) from the Madden 11 devs to actual player reaction to the decisions they make in the game are like night and day. The Fight Night Round 4 devs caved and put back the button options due to the overwhelming player request for them and the game is much better and more enjoyable as a result. The NCAA 11 devs get player feedback from veteran players before even deciding on what type of playcall screen and options they are going to have in this year's game, and then they actually LISTEN and take their suggestions and implement them into the game and this year everyone LOVES NCAA 11.

What do the Madden 11 devs do? Put in a new audible control system on their own, and basically don't tell anyone. Why? Did we ask for this? No. And just read some of these response tweets from Ian today.... Does THIS really sound like someone who cares what the players think? Or does it instead sound like someone who thinks HE knows better than everybody else? You be the judge...

Ian - "Strategy Pad has a steep learning curve. And in the demo, yes, the CPU snaps quickly, so it will be tough to adjust. Have patience."
Just what most players wanted. A new "feature" with a steep learning curve.

Ian - "If you are struggling, I suggest a 2 player game with play clock turned off, and play with it. In the long run I promise it is better."
You promise? Really? Boy, I remember a lot of past promises that... Hey look, I'm just sayin', some of us have heard these promises before and... BTW, I did that right away with a 2 player game. I still don't like it.

Ian - "Why did we change to strategy pad? For usability. Too many inconsistent buttons before...people would get 'stuck' and they couldn't snap it."
Who are these people you are talking about? I don't know anyone I played who was getting stuck. I was always trying to keep my QB upright and survive the blitz. Just who are these people you are talking about? Beginners?

Ian - "Why panic over a preplay button change, esp calling it 'clunky'? Y+UP is now UP+UP Does that seem clunkier? Give it a try."
I did and I don't like it. And please be truthful with the folks. For the first audible out of the huddle just to do ONE adjustment it's always three presses. So it's now UP+UP+UP. And yes, that IS clunkier.

Ian - "only one to open it. After the first one, it's always open so you can do multiples faster
"
How are two key presses we have to re-learn faster than two presses we already knew? Not to mention the discrepancy of now having to remember two audible control schemes if we want to play both NCAA 11 and Madden 11? Didn't they merge the NCAA 11 and Madden 11 dev teams years ago so this inconsistent control scheme between the two games could be avoided?

Trust me folks. Read between the lines in Ian's comments. There WILL BE NO OPTION TO TURN THIS OFF in the retail game and go back to the prior control scheme. Some people listen to what the public wants, and the ones that don't, just think they know better than everyone else. It's as simple as that.
