Re: NCAA Football 11 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here

tried running nothing but vertical routes. 1 for 14 in a game with Florida vs Florida St.

--------

The running game still impresses me each time I play the game. I'm loving the blocking and how rewarding it feels to follow blockers, find a hole, "get skinny", and take off for a long run.

Eager for this game to drop.

Really enjoying playing the demo right now. I think this is the must Ive played a demo ever. The graphics seem to be alot better, love the intros to the games and the ESPN presentation.

Come on July 13!!!

Demo just froze 4 straight times for me. I hope my 360 isn't dying. Again.

Is that something you've tested to find out for yourself rhombic?

I think you should waite for the final product before making this conclusion everything will be broken.......
Some of these teams have players that are rated extremely high, and there is no difference on some of the AI issues, so I am doubtful that this is the case. Also, these issues are the same across skill levels (All American and Heisman), which makes me doubtful that simply making defenders smarter (which already happens to some extent when you put the game on Heisman) is going to solve any issues here.

The short zone issues happen regardless, even if the player has 100 Awareness, because the game has the drop zones coded incorrectly.

Further, if you have to give every single defender a 90+ Awareness rating to get decent AI (and I don't concede that it would be decent), then doesn't awareness as a rating become irrelevant in the sense of differentiating between players? So if you do that, then you basically turn every defense into the same team, more or less. So now what separates teams like OU and Texas from Missouri and Clemson, in terms of team defense? Very little.

And what do you do when these super aware players are reacting unrealistically well to situations that are not impacted by these particular AI problems? Imagine a game where defenders virtually never bite on play action, or where misdirection plays never work. Wouldn't that game be just as broken as the current version of the demo?

Finally, even though EA has this tuner thing, it's highly unlikely that they are going to implement such a drastic "fix" for online play, which makes any attribute editing pointless for those people who are like me and don't primarily play offline against the computer, but instead play online.

I am very certain that this will require a patch -- probably a massive one at that. And until I see hard evidence that EA has successfully implemented such a patch, then I see no reason to think that the final product will be that much better than the demo. Past history suggests that any changes between the demo and final code will be minimal, and that subsequent gameplay patches will also tend to be minimal and fail to address major AI issues. There's no reason to think that things will be different this time.

i've played 2 games of the demo, and so far i'm having more fun with this game than i've had in years of video game football. the animations, tackles, graphics, and overall game play are simply superb, imo.

3 points for graphics, 1 point for the passable commentary, and a half point for the boxart. I can give no further points since the all over the place gameplay would ruin it anyway.

Re: NCAA Football 11 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here

i searched in this thread but couldn't find anything about it, i was lined up to kick the game winning FG with 4 seconds left, the CPU calls time out to ice me, so i line up again, they call time out again. I noticed this happened in last years game, the CPU would burn all of their time outs right in a row in this situation. Anyone else notice this? it gets annoying especially if they have all 3 time outs left.

I wonder if the players will take off their helemets in real version. It seems weird to see the players sitting on the bench or in post game celebrations with their helmet still on.
