How's Nyjer Morgan's ratings btw? Is it low enough for them to accept a trade for Wellemeyer from the Giants? lol.

At 22 years old with pop and a cannon Ramos is a legit prospect. And while you may not like him more than the others on the list Ksig... you could as easily be proven wrong in the future, as any one of those prospects that are rated as an A could prove to be a bust. I am not saying that their ratings should go to Ramos (except for Flowers and Moore and they won't be changed).

Anyway, like I said, I rest my case cause I have been beating this to death.

Out of curiousity Ksig, who is the player that you are thinking you would throw the A potential rating? And why is it that you don't see Ramos as an A prospect along with the others? (This is not for sake of argument... I truly want to know your opinion on this).
Well the thing is here is that I do think that Ramos is a top 10 catching prospect. I always give the benefit to a player that plays a scarce position. I love the fact that he can rake and the fact that he has a true catchers arm. I just think that for this game purpose that he sits in AAA for however long the Twinkies signed Mauer for unless he is dealt. I hate to compare this situation to another player, but the Joe Koshansky thing comes to mind. Look at his stats in the minors to only be blocked by Helton. Now you say who the hell is Joe Koshansky?

Montero whether he can catch or not is a catcher and its a game and mediocre catchers in the game can still catch a cold. Everyone and their mom knows that Montero cant catch a cold, but dude is an 8-8 hitter and those dont grow on trees. Even if Montero was a 1B or a 2B he would still be an A potential based on his major upside.

You are certainly right that any of these guys can be busts and I dont like Posey as much as the next guy but he can hit a bit and is extremely intriguing because of his athletic ability and his arm. He is a grade A prospect based on his ability and ability to be a solid every day catcher. He is also an SCEA guy.

Let me ask you a question? Are you biased at all because the Twins are your team? Be honest.

The guy I would lean towards giving the A potential rating to would be Harper now that I think of it. Christ, its nearly draft day and I havent even started a Franchise yet. Have you or are you like everyone else waiting on the set?

That brings me to another thing. I think we started off giving Ike Davis a B potential and look how he is faring in the bigs. I also think that Freeman is about to be on the same course and both of these guys are very similar hitters.

Remember that anyone of these prospects could either disappoint or surprise. Its baseball and grades dont always play out.

I am definitely bias because Ramos is a Twins player... wouldn't any good fan be? That said, I also have been aware of Ramos for a long time and followed his progression with excitement. He really has not even played AAA ball at all yet, and he has been injured, so it will be cool to see how he handles it. I just don't see a huge gap between someone like Posey (also languishing in AAA) and Ramos. I started a franchise and Ramos went 3 for 4 in the only game I've played him so far so the reality is A rating B rating who cares? The reason I'd like to see him get the A is that he definitely belongs to that upper echelon of catching prospects with the others. Harper would pretty much be a no brainer... but how long do we want to delay V.2? The Twins will have to figure out a way to either a) get him at bats through being creative with the catcher and DH or b) trade him. I don't think he'll be a Koshansky.

Hey Knight, could you please take another look at Alex Burnett if you get a chance. At age 22 through 16.2 MLB innings he is 0-1 with a 3.78 ERA. I think his performance has actually been better than his stats... the Twins are throwing him in there in a kind of mop up role whenever they start losing bad.

He has a mid 90's fastball, a plus curveball, and is working on a slider.

I haven't pitched him a whole lot yet, but have noticed a tendency to get hammered by the opposition.

Thanks!

Dear Knight,

First thank you for all your hard work on these rosters.

I apologize if the below is somewhat off topic but I could not find a better place to post it.

Your comment about being able to transfer a player from one roster to another had me thinking. The greatest obstacle to the current process of creating roster files is that only one person can actually work on the file at a time. Given that the file contains some 2700 players there is alot of work that needs to be done. It would be great if the game had the ability to split roster files into franchise files so parts of the roster could be worked on by more than one person at the same time. I would suggest that it would be useful if the game had an additional mode which I call for want of a better name "Roster Mode" with three functions, namely:

1) Split Roster - which takes a roster file and creates from it 30 or so separate "Franchise" files;
2) Create Roster - which combines franchise files one selects into a roster file. This function could include the ability to designate the number of teams and divisions (if not using the current league organisations) so one can imitate the structure of the leagues in years in the past; and
3) Edit Franchise - which allows one to move players between the various teams in a franchise and edit the individual players within the franchise. I would propose including the ability to edit player potential and also to upload or replace the thumbnail photos of the players. (Thus one could upload photos of minor league players). In this function one would start either by uploading an existing franchise file or having the computer create a new franchise file with all fictitious players. One would have to designate the team name etc if a new franchise.

For the OS Full Minors Roster the benefit would be that after the SCEA players are moved to the correct teams, then the roster file could be split into franchise files and as many as 30 people could simultaneously work on the various franchises (faces, equipment, names etc.) Of course there would need to be one person helping organise this part of the process and setting the guidelines to be followed in making the editing for consistency purposes across the roster. For the Classic Teams it would give one the ability to create rosters with any combination of individual team franchises that they desired and hopefully also the ability to structure the teams in divisions within the Leagues following the actual structure of the American and National League at the desired era. I would also suggest that Franchise files should be compatible with future editions of the game so the various classic teams would not have to be re-created each year.

Knight rest assured that the above additional capabilities would not put you out of business. There would still be a great need for your expert skills and guidance. I would see you as being the "quarterback" of the process.

I wish I could claim credit for these ideas, but I seem to recall that there were similar capabilities in one of the editions of the High Heat baseball games. In any event I just wanted to throw out the idea.

Why don't you just boost all of the Twins players' ratings yourself? You can jack them all the way up so you can mash in your franchise. For the rest of us, we really like the realism of these rosters.

It's annoying as hell when people come on here, representing their favorite team, begging Knight to take a look at "their guy" and boost his ratings and/or potential. If you want the guys on your team rated higher, go ahead and do it yourself.

I agree with Vanman but see the other guys point. I appreciate asking questions to folks like Ksig and Knight with objective viewpoints. I often find myself switching players to get better potentials in my Tigers farm system. I know that it is a move of a "slappy" on my part. I think it is of great value to be able to ask these questions, so that your own "slappiness" does not take over. I also have to say thanks to everyone who worked on these rosters.

So I will ask again does anyone know anything about Daniel Fields in the Tigers system?
