Without being in game I don't know for sure. I know there is an option in the Game Options screen or maybe in your profile screen that should allow you to change that whenever you want, in franchise or out of it.

Re: MLB '10: The Show - Franchise Issues Update

For what it's worth guys. As Knight had said earlier I think trades are based off a few factors, salary, Potential, prospects......and contract length. Now running most sims I noticed that most players traded were in the last year of their deals. Even arbitration eligible players seem like they are in the last year of their contract, when technically they are still under team control.

To test the theory I used 30 team control, released beckett, ortiz, lester. then resigned them to 4 year deals. Gave control back to cpu and simmed. None of the players were traded. now the reason I find this significant is because each sim I have done up until this ortiz and beckett have been traded.

I think the cpu puts a little too much weight into trading players in last year of deals and not look at the other variables enough.

If some trades bother you and a short term work around would be to give the player an extra year or a player or club option.

I believe you are correct.
I just tried the same thing.

Also...
Here is something that actually makes this bug a little "nice".

I took control of all 30 teams....I gave my profile to the Mets...left the rest NO PROFILE....went to GLOBAL options(which is what the NO PROFILE teams will follow)....and set everything EXCEPT trades to AUTO.
Now....the CPU is putting guys on the block and OFFERING trades...except I'M the one getting the offers(for ALL teams). If I don't like it...I turn it down. It's kind of like a commissioner overlord mode!
I'm still playing around with it...but no trades have been made this way w/o my authorization so far.
One thing I did notice...teams get desperate and put the player on the trading block repeatedly...as if screaming "LOOK WHO I HAVE ON THE BLOCK!"
Sometimes testing is fun.

I agree wouldn't it be a great job, I guess as long as you love the game you are testing?

What they say in those roster threads is true...KNIGHT IS GOD!!!

P.S. forgot to add great find!!! I am really liking this 30 team control so many options, when everything is ironed out with franchise bugs.....WOW will these be great.

Sounds like a damn good find and an excellent way to avoid the trades issue so many have been complaining about. I have to ask though, is there any downside to this at all, in your opinion of course? It seems like it would solve it all, no need to consistently check the pending trades, no need to worry about the CPU making dumb roster moves etc.

Re: MLB '10: The Show - Franchise Issues Update

I dont know if anyones mentioned yet but when i start playing a game in franchise all my settings reset to default. Also I've noticed that when i hit select and look at my batters stats it shows the left power is really low no matter what batter im using, im not sure if this actually affects the left power but its something to check out, and this isnt all in franchise mode though it also happens in exhibition and online. Well thanks for listening hope that helps you fix whatevers wrong.Oh and i have been using the yankees if that matters.

I'm still looking.
At first offer...I was so disappointed(unwarranted)...as I thought the offer was 2 players from DET to my Mets...they were two players from Seattle or somewhere...so I'm thinking that the trades were done "behind my back".....then I saw the team on top of the trade box and realized what was happening.....and it was a GOOD thing!
Can some other guys try this?....and post if anything is a downside to this.
So far to me...it looks like the best of both worlds...controlling trading for everyone...but STILL getting the CPU to offer trades.
Add this to possibly fixing some of the contracts and we could have a workable franchise to use right away.
