This never happened. The poster you quoted is right. They wanted to charge for alternate unis for the 07 footall games but they were not allowed to in the end and released them for free.

Edit: I believe they did charge for an additional arena for one of the March Madness games though. They just weren't allowed to charge for unis since they were available for free in last-gen versions of the games.

Re: Two Weeks of Madden 09, and Official Patch News!

Before anyone gets too excited or too upset already.. lets all just hope that patch#2 actually fixes what it claims to fix.

Based on EA's history, and also what happened with Madden 08, I am kind of skeptical of some of Ian's comments in the Patch#2 update.

for instance about a few of the glitches...

1. Stability issues with Madden IQ end of game popup: This has been fixed.
  1. Workaround until the patch: Always choose “No” at the Madden IQ end of game popup.
People have reported they have chosen "No" and still freezes.

2. “WR direct snap” exploit: Cheesers found an exploit to direct snap to a WR for easy short yardage gain. Not only are we fixing this play (i.e. we aren’t removing it), we are also going to be re-setting records for anyone with a winning record that has been found to be using this play.

This is unclear as to what they are actually doing here. Ian claims they are fixing it, but then states they aren't actually fixing the glitch?? very confusing wording here.. Are they claiming that re-setting records is going to be the fix?

3. CPU running out of bounds: This bug appears when the CPU tries to switch hands while running to the sidelines. This is fixed for patch 2.

I personally have witnessed this at least 4-5 times per game, and did not see any ball switching between hands when running out of bounds, so I am very skeptical about this fix also.

4. Field degradation: Another common complaint was the lack of field degradation. Our effect was very subtle, which was also getting overshadowed by our lighting and post effects, so we increased this effect for the patch.

Ian claims that field degradation was working, it was just very subtle.. i know myself, that I did not see any field degradation at all, whether subtle or not, so I am hoping I am wrong here as well, and this fix actually works.

5. Deep ball glitch: Some enterprising gamers found a way to throw a deep ball while crossing the LOS and hit a receiver wide open at a decent rate. We addressed this by making sure the DB will no longer break on the ball when the QB crosses the line while throwing.

Is this really a fix? when crossing the line of scrimmage should be a penalty, and what needs to be fixed. So according to Ian, you can still exploit this glitch, they are not fixing the root cause an its still possible to complete this pass. thats not a fix IMO.

I must stress that I sincerely hope this is not just another EA damage control tactic claiming that they fixed these major glitches.. when in reality they truly did not fix them.

Sorry for being a skeptic and being negative, but at this point with EA.. I won't believe it until I see it for myself.

Here's to hoping EA comes thru this time!!

I for one have no doubt that the can and will fix the glitch of the cpu running out of bounds all the time.
I can not play this game any longer until this is fixed, it happens about 5 times a game and kills the cpu's offensive drives way too much.
That being said they did fix this issue for NCAA 09 with the second patch so I believe they will fix it on Madden too.

i agree. why not simply make it a penalty when a QB passes after he crosses the LOS

The posts above are why I'm finding 'rewind' useful

I agree with booey - some of Ian's comments are vague, especially about the freezing issues as well

I thought it was pretty obviously to see that he said they would be "FIXING THIS PLAY"......and not "REMOVING IT".

EA is fixing the play so you can't do the glitch with the receiver. They are not going to remove the actual play that the glitch comes from.

Get it now???

Please stop with the negativity and go do something constructive.

Apologies if this has already been covered, but is there any news regarding the release date for the downloadable content?

Do you see what you're doing here? You're using logic. That's your problem right there.
