Re: ACQB M10 Franchise Game Discussion/Ish-Talking Thread

The Diva pitches his first-ever shutout in the ACQB M10 OF!

Hats off to Joe for a well-fought, defensive battle--in throwbacks no less.

The Giants played a very nice defensive game. Joe mixed his calls well, forcing 3 Bulger interceptions. Two were just phenomenal plays by the defense. One, posted below, saw Jamarion Bellows blow by single coverage on a streak, but Bulger's aging arm was not strong enough to put the ball ahead of the rookie WR. Webster closed well and made a great play on the ball. Demorrio Williams also made a wonderful grab on a ball over the middle that showed good mobility.

The NY run defense bottled up Jackson and sent him to the sidelines for a good bit in the 2nd quarter. Jackson's effectiveness was severely limited, and he averaged just 2.9 YPC.

On defense, the Rams put consistent pressure on Eli Manning, hitting him several times and forcing 3 INT of their own. Rookie CB R.J. Fields came down with two interceptions, locking down his side of the field.

Despite trailing most of the game, New York ran the ball consistently and ran it well. Brandon Jacobs bulled through Ram defenders for 78 yards on 15 carries. The Giants' line blocked extremely well in the run game, and Jacobs showed impressive strength running down hill.

I had an interesting play that I've not really seen before, which I posted below. On a play where Joe went with a light rush and ran a cover 3, I had Bellows on a deep post from the SE position. I had enough time that Bellows actually ran by and behind the FS in the cover 3, and Bulger delivered the ball out in front for a 53-yard completion. I had never seen a S get run by like that!

Here's a great pick by Jason Webster. Bellows beat the coverage on a streak, but Webster caught up and made a great play.

Stephen Jackson scores the Rams' lone TD on a toss play. Nice kick-out block by the LG:

A 53 yarder from Bulger to Bellows. Bellows shows the speed to outrun the FS on the cover 3 and Bulger delivers.

Here's the interception that sealed the shutout. Ronald Bartell makes a great play in bracket coverage in the corner of the endzone:

Love those Rams throwbacks.

I hate the new "metallic" color palette that they use these days.

Same for the Seahawks, Eagles and Patriots.

I couldn't agree more. I really miss the Dickerson-era Rams unis. I hated the switch to their new colors, and agree on SEA and PHI. I really miss the Elway-era Broncos unis, the Taylor-era Giants unis, and the Montana-era Niners unis, though the new SF outfits do harken back to them.

Personally, I like the newer uniforms for Seattle way more than the older ones, but they're still cool though.

Re: ACQB M10 Franchise Game Discussion/Ish-Talking Thread

Throwback week! I had some on too.

TM, I love the cover 3 breaking bomb! I need to learn how to do this! Random kids rush 3 or less more than I want to see. I need to punish that. It looks like a deep post or seam that just kept getting ran and you just timed it perfect. I've been burnt that way before.

Did you play more user LB/DB? Did it help in the shutout? I bet running the ball a lot helped.

My passing game is horrible. My timing in the passing game is horrible. That's basically it

I'd suggest finding plays that work against basic zone and man defenses so you know what to go to and what to look for in a game situation. That's basically what I did to familiarize myself with my playbook really well.

This game is based more on principle and less on what you see, in my opinion. This means you need to find routes that work against certain defenses, not rely on what you see.
