Re: The Transfer Thread

Because we don't particularly need another semi-fast player with ball skills. We have plenty of those... Dele, Kane and Eriksen aren't exactly the fastest players in PL. Son and Lamela has some pace but they aren't forceful enough on the counter attack. Lamela used to be, though... maybe he'll come through.

Seems like Levy wants Lemar, though...

Re: The Transfer Thread

Yeah fair enough.

So who would be ideal then? Somebody like Brandt that can do both?

Re: The Transfer Thread

I've tried to figure out who Spurs can realistically get who will strengthen the first eleven... but I fail to find a single starter who needs replacement without spending unreal amounts of money. So if we got some raw pace and strength up front, that guy might realistically challenge Son. On the other hand, if we play 3-4-3, Son is usually 2nd in line anyway, except when Dembele is having trouble with his feet. We don't have any aging issues anywhere in the squad... so I guess I should be thrilled but it worries me that we might splash out more money on absolutely no progression in terms of strength. Width shouldn't cost a lot of money, though.

We do need a right back that can challenge Trippier if Walker leaves, though. Any suggestions? As Trippier's crosses rivals Eriksen's I don't particularly see anyone who can realistically just waltz in ahead of him. He is average in defense, though.

Re: The Transfer Thread

France seems to be popular for fullbacks these days, so is Portugal but Sporting/Benfica will make you pay a lot. Although Semedo seems like an intense talent so he's probably worth whatever they are charging. Poch seems to be a fullback wizard though, so I guess he will figure something out.

For width, Brandt probably wouldn't cost a whole lot. Gnabry is a similar player, with added comedic bonus if he does well.

I'm excited for this window. Milan is already making major upgrades to the squad. Musacchio is a done deal, and Rodriguez/Morata deals are almost there as well. All three are Mich needed additions. The squad does need some midfield help and some depth signings but it's off to a good start!

It won't help the first 11 BUT IMO you guys are in need of a 2nd ST. Maybe Jansen settles into his 2nd season in the Prem but some insurance for Kane would go a long way considering all of the minutes he's going to play for club & country this year.

Maybe kick the tires on Defoe again, lol?????

I've already wished for Defoe a few times to my RL friends. Not seeing it happen, though, but he's my last favorite player and I've shed a tear every time we've sold him. I'm too old to get new actual favorites now...

Anyway, I've liked what I've seen from Janssen to be honest. He's a great player who's had his fair share of bad luck. If he keeps trying, like Kane did, he'll be a great asset to us during next season. I predict ketchup-effect!

Re: The Transfer Thread

Wouldn't it be better to get somebody that can actually challenge Kane?

Sort of like how we kept buying RWs so that Willian could absorb their powers. Legitimate competition might help push Kane to the next level.

SAF said that was one of the most important factors in sustained league title challenges. Even after winning the league he'd go out and buy players in key positions to keep the squad fresh and guard against complacency.
