Certainly nothing surprising, at any rate. Teams and local media look after their own. It has ever been thus.

The Canucks could be the only team to lose in 5 games and yet be the 4th team eliminated. Weird schedule.

Also, you can guess what the only topic in the media here today is: Canucks still in embarrassing hole (heh)? Gutty effort to avoid elimination? Of course not.

Yeah, but that's the curse of living in a town that is obsessed with a single franchise. When I was in New England for a few years, it was that way with the Sawx...everything was a catastrophe, every loss was the end of the world, every minor gaffe was a cause for great consternation...it's a blessing and a curse.

Not sure what's worse - being the Florida Panthers (does anyone there even know that team exists?) or the Canucks? Love is a double-edged sword...

Thing is, the Red Sox will never have trouble attracting marquee players. At the very least, they'll always have more money to offer than almost everybody else. Who'd want to play in a fishbowl like here or Montreal?

The finest article about the Florida Panthers that will ever be written: http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/...ir-draft-picks

The Ottawa-NY series has been great to watch, a little bit of everything but not over the top like the Pitt-Philly series.

With that being said the Rangers have to stop playing this bend but don't break, sit back and defend the storm hockey they play after gaining the lead.

I've seen it way to much, frankly it's reminiscent of Tom Renney's teams when he was here.

They need to start playing like the #1 team in the east or else Ottawa is going to take care of them in 7.

True, but that's a relatively recent phenomenon (the money thing). For decades the Sox did not spend and also were not necessarily a top-flight destination for players. Although that didn't do anything to damp the insanity surrounding the team in New England.

Why does Vancouver have such a hard time attracting players? It seems to me like people would want to play there; beautiful city, loyal fanbase, the Canadian dollar and US dollar aren't that far off that it seems like it would make that much difference. I don't doubt what you say, I just don't understand is all.
