Of course Manning's arm isn't what it used to be (and that may be enough for a BB designed defense to win the chess match with him), but its amazing how many are focused on that only. He's got one of the best minds we've ever see play the QB position. Your Alex (or their Brock) couldn't hold a candle when it comes to recognizing defenses, calling perfect audibles, putting olinemen in the best possible position, getting the ball to the correct receiver for the situation, etc. His decreased velocity is definitely a real handicap, don't get me wrong... but you guys are nuts if you think there are more than a handful of QBs you'd rather have going into a conference championship game against a BB defense designed to exploit your weaknesses.

This game is going to be A LOT closer than I think most people are predicting.
I kinda get his comment to an extent only with regards to Peyton because of what was in the past his greatest gift -- deciphering the defense and audibling to a play to beat that defense.

Usually I hate the tag "game manager" for the reasons you cited, every QB is expected to be a game manager. But I do wonder if in this point in his career, Peyton may be better off sticking to the script so to speak. I don't know, 20 minutes from now I may change my mind and say its the only reason he is still a good Qb.

In the past Peyton was able to pick apart the defense. He knew exactly how to attack a defense and was able to do it. Now he may be better off just taking what the defense gives him instead of taking what he wants. Hopefully that makes sense.

You're holding a lifelong grudge because a 20/21 year old didn't wanna hang out with you while you were at his college?

I remember when Brady was considered the "game manager" and Manning the "gunslinger" who needed to throw 40+ times for his team to win.

This is what I meant. He may see the safeties or corners playing up, and think I'll go over the top or PA and exploit their aggressiveness to the run. But he's not physically able to do it as well as he used to.

His mind is ahead of his body, and airing it out may result in a major underthrow that gets picked.

He may not be a game manager, but he's gotta be very efficient with the short/intermediate passing game.

Teams are playing up on him this year because they know he can't beat them deep. It's why their running game has been so porous.

It would take an extreme breakdown in coverage for him to beat anyone deep at this point which is why we're seeing him hardly even try at this point.

Even with 10 yard out routes he will only throw it if the the WR beat a zone or if the defense has no chance at making a play.

Like the play where he gave himself up, didn't get called for it and hit Manny Sanders for a 34 yard or so gain.

Not quite sure what your point is?

The throw was less than 20 yards and worked mainly because the defense gave up because of a questionable gimmick.

Is there any scenario other than injury where we could see Brock replace Peyton on Sunday, or is Denver dead set on living or dying with Peyton at QB?

I personally don't see one, but was curious what the feeling is amongst Broncos fans.
