I'm fairly certain he won't be available where NE is slotted to pick... with that said, I know how BB handles the draft and I don't remember what other picks he's already still got sitting in his pocket that may be combined to help move up.

Another thing to consider though is that, other than RB, they've already pretty much tied up the money they're going to in skill positions. Welker is the main name left, and they're strong arming him. I haven't looked closely at what the specific needs are for the Pats but despite what I know most fans would want, I doubt WR is high enough on the list to trade up and take first.

We are in a serious need for a second CB to complement Talib, so that is a priority. Also, our center is another issue. You can even say our FS may be an issue if Gregory doesn't step up.

You're right trading up for a WR is pretty unlikely, we only 5 picks in the draft and two of them are 7th rounders. As for targets I have no idea what position we'll go for. We have some needs on defense, but we're already very young on that side of the ball. BB could use FA to fill the defensive needs and focus on offense in the draft.

I could see the Pats taking a WR in the first round, but there are several other positions we could go for as well. Like Readyornot0407 said secondary and center are both possible, DT is another possibility.

Re: 2013 Transactions Thread

@AdamSchefter: One WR off market: Dolphins signed WR Brian Hartline to a 5-year deal worth $30.775 million, including $12.5 million in guaranteed money.

@JeffDarlington: Dolphins get another one done: QB Matt Moore is sticking around. He has signed a deal to stay with Miami as Tannehill's backup, source says.

This Tweet makes me feel a lot better about the Alex Smith trade:

Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) tweeted at 7:51 AM on Fri, Mar 08, 2013:

RT @evansilva: With Matt Moore signed, top FA QBs: 1. J. Campbell 2. D. Garrard 3. C. Daniel 4. Drew Stanton 5. Josh Johnson 6. Vince Young.

I can't believe someone hasn't given Josh Johnson a chance to learn the system and earn playing time. I saw a lot of potential in him. I'd be shocked if he doesn't end up in San Fran.

Re: 2013 Transactions Thread

I like him a lot too, but I can't say for sure if that's just because I replaced Tannehill with him in madden 2 seasons ago

Similar situation is probably why im a Donnie Avery fan, lol.

Re: 2013 Transactions Thread

Looks like Cliff Avril is moving on from Detroit. Said he'd be willing to play in a 3-4.
