The Lakers and Celtics are the top teams historically but who comes next...

...in terms of cache? Im sure some of you have heard by now that the Celtics (16) and Lakers (14) account for roughly half of the NBAs 61 championships. I think the Bulls come next with 6. But we all know that it was driven by the GOAT. But the Bulls werent really a big factor before Jordan. There are some teams however, who have fewer titles but who have been a bigger factor more consistently throughout history, the Sixers for example. Who would you say comes after the Celtics and Lakers in the NBAs pecking order (historically)?

The Knicks, they're in the media capital of the world and when they were good they really were the engine that carried the league in terms of ratings. The NYC area is important in that regard.

Both Philadelphia teams (Warriors/Sixers), then the Knicks.

After that, it's a few teams that can fight for next.

Bulls, Sixers, Spurs, Pistons, Knicks (we're talking about succes not hype), Warriors, Rockets, Bullets, Sonics.
