That's what gets me... If you're not sure of it, and you value your reputation, keep it to yourself or just send out a short tweet. Don't make multiple videos titled "NFL 2K TO RETURN AT E3 2014" unless you know what you're talking about.

He seems to have a good rep and he's part of the EA Game Changer program so I can't wrap my head around why he'd want to potentially draw a bunch of negative attention towards himself. I doubt EA would appreciate him fanning the 2K vs EA debate flames...

Ah. I see. With that type of game, I would create a new version of "NFL Europe" or something that in the direction. *g*

But, they must have some most-wanted-feature like pronouncing your names.

The hope would be that a dedicated player would recreate the NFL rosters from scratch. I'd be willing to devote a lot of my time to that if such game was released, but that appears not to be the case.

I have always thought there would be some potential in that. They could also do things that the NFL/NCAA wouldn't allow for: PED suspensions, Academic ineligibility, Concussions, Fans tearing down the goalposts etc. And they could tie the college to pro experience together into one seamless game. Not to mention no cost for licensing, nor the time & effort to rate all the players.

If they made a generic version and put it on PC (nba 2K is released on PC annually), modders would have the near equivalent of a licensed version made shortly after release.

There hasn't been a legitimate football game on PC in like 6-7 years... I can't imagine a "next-gen" level 2K football game on PC not selling reasonably well.

It'd be a harder sell on consoles, but I think the 2K brand may have enough name-recognition now to draw some attention away from Madden. NBA 2k has become the standard for basketball gaming and has permeated pop culture in a way similar to Madden. Throw a game together with pretty graphics, customization and 2K on the box and I think they'll have much better luck than they did with APF.

Many issues with that though:

1) Sales - You need a hook to sell most sports games. APF had legends. Madden has the NFL license. Most people dont want to create a league or design it themselves.

2)Content - Most people just want the NFL license and w/ a generic game someone could make a league like that. The problem with that is 2k wouldnt be able to allow you to share that league because of the NFL. The NFL would rain down a million cease and desist letters to 2k if it ever hosted an NFL league on its servers.

Yep, I'd expect sales to be low for a game like that. Markets change, but people wanting the NFL pretty much takes the cake.

Re: NFL 2k COMEBACK? License not exclusive?

I would even be happy if they announced the following:

1.) An Arena Football League game or a Generic game or a High School game
2.) Game would be a "low-development cost" upgrade of APF 2k8 (& its engine)
3.) Full game would only be on Ps3/360 (again, minimizing development costs and maximizing potential revenues because of large user base)
4.) Large Demo version of game available for Ps4/X1
4.) Game would be digital download only on all platforms
5.) Game would not have tons of modes but have limited online functionality (minimize costs)

Purpose of game would be to generate 2k Football buzz once again and re-evaluate public interest in 2k Football without pumping so much money into it that 2k and its investors would feel totally burnt if it were not wildly successful.
