Rental would probably be a good choice unless you are a massive Batman fan. It doesn't take too long to beat the main story.

I've only gone through it once and haven't really touched it since but I don't regret buying it because I'm a huge Batman fan and I got it first day for $38.

Agreed. I beat it within a week or two and after the 1st month it's just sitting there. While I wish it had more replay value, I don't regret purchasing it; in fact, I'd even go so far to say it is a game of the year candidate (yes, even over COD: MW2) and I enjoyed every minute of the game.

I ended up trading this in for assassin's creed since i beat it on hard and found all the riddler challenges first time through. After that there wasn't anything else to really do.

Purchased this yesterday at Target for $37. Looking forward to popping this in the 360 when I get back home.

Re: Batman: Arkham Asylum

Woo, what an experience. Best Batman game to date (which isn't saying much, though).

But, really, this was a great video game. I enjoyed the uniqueness in every boss fight (with the exception of Bane as it becomes repetitive as you play deeper into the game). I would have liked more of the boss fights to involve a bit more button mashing to really get me working, but making it a giant action puzzle is nice.

The last two big fights are ridiculous and left my thumbs aching. Really have to apply everything you learned about combos, evading, and using your weapons at the opportune times.

Great experience. One of those games I probably wouldn't mind playing through again except that I have too many other titles to get through (Borderlands, you're up!).

Re: Batman: Arkham Asylum

I picked this up and started playing again and now can't put it down. I was up until almost 2 am last night knowing good and well I had to be to work at 8!

I'm sure most have finished the game by now, but I'll put my questions in a spoiler just in case.

i beat it last week after getting it through my gamefly. Hell of a game. I wasn't expecting it to be the way it was. The scarecrow scenes were awesome.
