Actually I don't think this is correct. You do get to see 3 skills before you hire them but those are MAX skills not current skills. His "overall" current skill level is reflected by his skill rating. His potential is reflected by those 3 skills you are shown.

I have tested this by going through and hiring several VERY low skilled (sub 10) who have skills of 4 and 5 and they are currently at 1 but have a max of 4/5 in certain ones.

This doesn't always work. My ST coach has 1 for all three of those skils but have other skills at 5. And there are also many coaches who have the 3 development skill around 4 and 5 and they only have a 2 or 3 performance.

This might not be true all of the time but when i won the superbowl i checked to see if the 99 trainer was still avaialble (heard people rave about him). He was!! although there wasn't any good coaches in any other position so my coaching staff is the same except for my trainer.

Re: Thoughts on Changing Coaches?

So here's another question.

I'm looking at QB coaches and I notice one has a 4 potential in Performance, but only 1 in Learning. Then another one I notice has only a 2 potential in Performance, but 4 in Learning.

Then a 3rd one I'm looking at is a little more balanced: Potential of 3 in performance and a Potential of 2 in Learning.

Which of these, in your opinions, is the better option?

1. QB Coach with High Potential in Performance, but very Low Potential in Learning.
2. QB Coach with Low Potential in Performance, but High Potential in Learning.
3. QB who's more in the middle on both?

Can I compensate for the low potentials by having my head coach or offensive coordinator have high potentials in those areas?

I would go with this one. I have found that players play alot better when their coach has a high performance. When i got my HC's performance to 5 i couldn't beleive how much better my team started to play instantly. Sure there were likely other factors that went into it but my team consistently played above what they were playing before.

He's correct. You see the skill cap, not current skill level.

Re: Thoughts on Changing Coaches?

I think you misunderstood. I didn't mean that you see their 3 highest skills. I meant you get to see 3 random specific skills with the MAX attainable in those 3 skills. It is quite possible to see a guy who has 5's in all 3 shown skills and EVERY other skill is a 1 max. For a guy like a DC/OC who have a TON of skills, the little window is close to useless. But for the D-line, D-Back, QB, etc coaches who only have a handful of skills. It is very nice.
