Re: How is your dynasty going

Heartbreak for the Wolfpack
California has defeated N.C. State in their Week 11 matchup, 20-15. Despite outgaining the Vulcans in offensive yards 382 to 277, N.C. State was unable to capitalize on their opportunities, settling for field goals or making mistakes in the red zone.

California went into halftime with a comfortable 17-3 lead, only to see that lead dwindle when their offense stalled drive after drive in the third. Late in the fourth, it looked as though the Wolfpack were going to make a comeback, but a fumble by Junior Quarterback Sean Britt at the 1-yard line ultimately doomed N.C. State. Although the Wolfpack rallied for a touchdown late, a failed two-point conversion along with a missed recovery on the ensuing onside kick meant the game was over.

California performed efficiently on offense, including the best performance to date from Senior Brian Sweeney, but the lack of production nearly cost them the game. California's defense bend but did not break for much of the game, which allowed the sputtering offense to keep a lead for the entirety. Dillon Voss (Sr.) lead the defense recording 8 tackles on the night, including a career-high five for loss and two sacks.

N.C. State drops to 3-6 and 1-2 in non-conference play. They head to unranked Florida State next weekend.

California (7-2) will likely stand pat in the polls with no major shakeups in the higher seeds. #5 Alabama, despite losing to #14 LSU, is not expected to fall out of the top-15. California will take on 1-9 Eastern Carolina next week.

Freshman tight end Kevin Moore (82) receives an 11-yard touchdown pass from Brian Sweeney in the second quarter. Moore continues to impress this season as is currently second on the team in receiving.

Players of the Game:
N.C. State - Sean Britt (QB) - 17/24, 219 Yds, TD, 11 Car, 76 Yds
California - Trey Johnson (RB) - 18 Car, 93 Yds, TD, 4 Rec, 35 Yds

California (Pa.) Vulcans 2014 Schedule
DATEOPPONENTRESULT
Nov 14at East Carolina University

In recruiting news, California had four campus visits this weekend. Since the visit, all four recruits have verbally committed to playing football next year in California, PA:

**** Marcus Mann - DT (Lancaster, PA)
**** Clayton Smith - DT (Security-Widefield, CO)
** Clint Bergstrand - DE (West Mifflin, PA)
** Danny Carter - DT (Cliffside Park, NJ)

Head Coach Wilson is committed to keeping the defense a priority. With three seniors on the defensive line leaving next season, he has heavily recruited in that area, and this set of quality recruits should bode well for next year. Look for Mann and Smith to make immediate impacts. It is expected that both Bergstrand and Carter will be redshirt.

Re: How is your dynasty going

I need help guys. I need a team to start out with, I havent had fun with a dynasty since i spent 6 seasons at Tennessee at OC then after we finally won the National championship then i took a HC job at florida who only had 2 wins the previous year and brought them to a national championship. Then i retired that dynasty feeling like i accomplished all i needed.

Here are the things i want in a team.

1. Wide receivers who can catch

2. Not a great defense but was thinking a ok defense.

3. Fast qb, i have to be able to escape from defenders.

4. Decent rb with good speed.

I was thinking of wyoming dont really know how good they are but they seemed like a fun team.

Wave wins 1st game of year!

It took 4 weeks, but Coach Willingham's Tulane Green Wave FINALLY have a "1" in the win column!

Taking on SMU, the Green Wave put together a rushing clinic, amassing a whopping 433 yards on 64 carries! Impressive, considering they only threw the ball twice the entire game! The Green Wave (1-3, 1-0 American) walk out of the Superdome in front of over 15,000 in attendance with their first-ever American Athletic Conference win.

"Everyone helped out, on all sides of the ball. Offense, defense, special teams. They all played well today." said Coach Kaelyn Willingham after the game.

With Sophomore QB Tim Ashley leaving the game early with an abdominal strain, RS Soph QB Devin Powell put the game in his hands, collecting a career-best 170 yards rushing on 14 attempts.

"I did what a veteran's supposed to do. I took the game over." said Powell of his performance.

He wasn't the only one who did work today on offense. A total of 11 people touched the ball today, 9 of which having at least 4 carries. FB Shaun Berry had a career day, totaling 3 TD's on the ground. Even the 3rd-string QB got involved. When Devin Powell went down with an injury, True Freshman QB Maurice Johnson saw his first career action. He led the team on 2 scoring drives, the first ending with a Shaun Berry TD, the second ending with Johnson's first career TD out of read option. Willingham was impressed with the Freshman's poise.

"Maurice did well today. We may have to get him some more action."

At 6'1", 237 lbs, Maurice Johnson (a 4* QB out of high school) could see time at QB, FB, or even TE.

The Green Wave will have the next week off, then travel to the Liberty Bowl to take on the Memphis Tigers. The Wave are excited to get their first win, and hope to ride their "Wave of momentum" into the rest of the season.

Roll Wave!!!

Corso's Keys to the Game
  • The outcome of this game will likely depend on how well California can move the ball against a weak defense. In all likelihood, this game will be over by halftime.
  • The interesting matchup note is ECU's pitiful offense against California's stout defense - will ECU manage to score and keep themselves in the game?
  • Can Barber limit his mistakes against California's defense?
Herbie Picks: California in a blowout, 45-3.
Notes
  • California won at home last week against N.C. State, 20-15.
  • East Carolina has struggled in their first year in the ACC, their lone win coming against division rival Duke.
  • California's Junior RB Trey Johnson is presently 4th in the NCAA in rushing, while MLB Dillon Voss leads the NCAA in tackles.
  • East Carolina ranks near the bottom of the NCAA in both total offense and defense.
