This is interesting. I thought Da Czar was hinting that the tolerance for problems/issues was a bit higher because we have an alternative we can turn to instead. Personally, I think the sim gamer is going to have a lower tolerance in general for these games regardless of competition or exclusivity. Though there can be an air of futility as far as voicing concerns about a game with no competitor.

Re: NBA Elite 11 Videos and Impressions From the Boost Mobile Elite 24 Event

I wont pass any serious judgement until i play the game for myself, and play with my style of play.

I think alot of people in this video were to used to basketball games doing the realistic stuff for them. Like switching hands when dribbling, laying it up when close to the hoop, stopping the momentum so you can pull up for a jumper not a leaner. Because i saw alot of simple yet easy errors goin on, like players dribbling to the right but the ball still in their left hand because they expect it to switch for example. Stuff like that makes the game look akward but people don't realize its their fault. Even when protecting the ball people didn't realize they had to do tht, because they would just try to run towards the hoop with a player in front of them; something no one would do in real life.

As for Dwade and Boozer dunking from the FT line, that is RIDICULOUS i dont kno what the devs. were thinking putting something like that in. Not to mention they had hardly enough momentum to even lay it up from that distance, and the fact tht the limbs don't have realistic physics just looks weird.

All in all ii think this game has very realistic aspects to it, but people aren't ready for that style a play right now, and it does take practice. You know when you used to play Live then switch over to another bball game but you still pressing the same buttons from live because of muscle memory. Its gonna be 100x worse with Elite their i a learning curve and you have to get used to the game controls before it can even look right. You also have to think with realistic aspects in mind.

We need some videos of two people that are actually skilled at the game to even see what a real game would look like.

Re: NBA Elite 11 Videos and Impressions From the Boost Mobile Elite 24 Event

First of all, thanks for the vids, glad to see Elite in action....FINALLY

Second, people donīt have to give constructive criticism, there is no problem in stating facts, good or bad, I understand that people have preferences, just try and keep your opinion balanced and everything will be fine

When I see these videos, I try to see more then what I am seeing, and knowing that almost every single player action, occurs after the user input, makes it easier to analyze.

When I asked rEAnimator about sprinting, I expressed my concern about changing gears, I donīt like to see players that appear to be running always the same pace or very close to it

I understand that this is almost a EA feature, they have taken out the turbo button in other sports games, I donīt like it, it is easier for me to suddenly change the pace after a dribble move or a fastbreak if there is a turbo button, at least it is easier for the me to notice it...

It could have been because of user input, but there was only 1 gear in those videos, but too early to make conclusions

I was disappointed with the lack of physicality, but then again it was probably because of user input, so I will wait for me to jump all over guys flying for the layup to see more collisions...

I donīt understand why so many people talk about that Boozer dunk, I donīt remember the last time Live had a game, were players didnīt fly on dunk or layup attempts

You see so many big men flying in live games, even tho they are 7 ft, it is crazy, I hope that next year ATLEAST 2 types of verticals are added, standing still and fastbreak verticals.

And even in that action I think it should be user input, meaning if I wanted to dunk with Boozer so far off, I should be blocked by the rim because he doesnīt have enough air under him to jump so far from the rim.

Another hate that I have read, "people are attacking the basket going left with the ball in the right hand when he should use the other one", that is user input, it has nothing to do with "EA messing it up as always".....

Another idea was that there should be limitations on the user control, first of all let me say that I understand the idea, but in my opinion this should not exist, at least offline, and let me break it down

I am a sim baller, but letīs say I woke up today, and I want to play a crazy game, without putting NBA jam in, let me try to shoot fadeaways with Dhoward, what is the problem with that???

I understand and I agree, it should look ugly, and it should be almost impossible to score in the low difficult level, but there is nothing wrong with it.

Do yīall remember the Bynum video, when he loses the ball wile dribbling??? Why did that look great??? Because we saw a player that never uses that in real life, trying to do it, and it went wrong, it looked ugly and slow, that was perfect

There should be no limitations, but that could be a problem online, you could see people playing like that, when you want to play a competitive b-ball game, or another problem is the casual gamer, but that is a problem that EA has to figure it out, not me, because if the game is fun, I can put the time behind the game (fortunately).

And hey, I am talking user control, of course the CPU AI should not do it, they have to play sim ball at all costs, I should have total control.

Lastly some people say that for example, "before my player jumps, he should gather", because this would make the jumping animation more realistic, and let me say why I THINK they will not do it. For your player to gather he would take, letīs say 0,5 a second, and what EA is doing is making a game with total control, and 100% responsive, meaning, the second I press the button, my player does something...

For people to understand I will give 2k as an example (mods this is not an off-topic, this is just for people to understand my point) why do some people love the visuals of every single play, and why do some hate the responsiveness???

It is simple, because they have perfect blending between animations, making it look great, but sometimes you are at one spot on the court, you give your player an order to do something, but when the animation or the transition between them is finished, you user input action is not the most accurate because that action was only accurate for 0,5 seconds

My point is that there needs to be a balance, right now they decided responsiveness, maybe next year you will see more blending, but in my opinion they will never LOOK as good as they could, if they decided that the visual aspect of the game was more important, and FOR ME that is the right decision

I canīt understand how people say that this game looks like live 10, and some people even say it looks worst, but hey, thats the beauty of having different opinions, but I am the first to say that I was hoping for more, but knowing that what they had to do this year would take time, so these videos were not totally unexpected for me

Letīs hope that next year they revamp the animation side of the game, now that the controls are in it, and complexing the RTP, for more realistic 1 on 1 physical battles

Sorry for the long post, thanks again for the videos, and the feedback that those "bastards" that played the game gave us.....

Also the '3 year plan' shouldn't be an excuse for not releasing a good game. I'd rather have them not release a game for 2 years and come with a great one afterwards.
Real talk here, fam. I just got a chance to watch all 17 of these vids and I am to disrepectful here so please do not flame me, but I have seen less ice skating in hockey games and better physical contact in synchronized swimming.

I really want NBA Elite 11 to be a great game, but I have to agree that they should have taken a break for 2 years instead of pumping out 2 more bad pre-releases prior to the one they want to design. Better yet, they should take this year off and keep working on the game for next year "NBA 2k12" and then they will have gained the respect of basketball game fans.

Sony might come back with an NBA game again soon for PS3 and XBox 360 that will blow away both the 2k series and the Elite series. I say watch out for Sony.

Re: NBA Elite 11 Videos and Impressions From the Boost Mobile Elite 24 Event

My first impressions of these vids were that the game looks bad.

24 hours later and I've watched them again.......and it looks worse.

I only just noticed the Boozer is the new Doctor J stuff....that's some seriously messed up player "realism" right there.

As Dre has said for years now...we just shouldn't be seeing Andrew Bynumm crossovers and Emeka Okafor draining 20 foot Js.....this series just has no idea about real player tendencies. It's just completely generic.

LIVE 10 was the first time the series has looked to at least be 'getting' on track. These vids suggest it's right off the rails again.

I am tired of paying $60 for this thing based on "next year we'll get it right". I won't be getting it this season unless the demo is exceptional...and that seems very unlikely based on these vids.

Ditto what he said...I can't justify buying this game after seeing what we all have seen...I kinda feel bad for the Elite crew because there will be some heads rolling once the numbers come in this year for this game. I wouldn't be suprised to see EA get out of simulation basketball all together and just focus on the NBA JAM-like titles

Mike Wang said he left because he didn't like the direction the game was going. And now we know what he meant. This game is HORRIBLE! WTF
