Just brainstorming here. I play on my TV and it looks great, players pop and the picture is clear

Hey man do you have any issues with lag playing on your tv? I tried hooking my rig up to my Vizio 4k tv and had lots of lag. Playing on my monitor with max settings is fine. Its just my tv.

You need to disable all Post-Processing on your TV. Many TVs offer something called "Game Mode", where this is automatically done.

This graphics card is far worse than what the one I bought 7 years ago for my old PC, which cost 220€ back then.

I'd rather buy a newer and used graphics card, than that.

The german forum "computerbase" offers buying advice for gaming PCs in different price ranges, which is put together by community work. The last two rigs I bought were based on their advice.

They have one for 500€, maybe that is something to look at? Should be much, much better than what you posted there:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600
Mainboard: MSI B450M-A Pro Max
RAM: G.Skill Aegis 16 GB DDR-3000
GPU: XFX Radeon RX 570 RS
Power: be quiet! System Power 9 400W
Storage: Crucial MX500 500 GB SSD
Tower: LC-Power 7037B

While this of course costs a little bit more than your suggestion, you get far more value for your money. I mean, we have 2020 and you want to buy a 250 GB HDD?! Also DDR3 RAM and only 8 GB? RAM right now is super cheap. The graphics card costs 30€ more than your suggestion but is 850% faster!! The CPU cost 100€ less than yours, but still is 14% better (intel prices are way too high...).
You should be able to run 2k at High settings with this, atleast NBA 2k20...Cannot tell you anything about NBA 2k21 as this likely will be released for next gen, meaning the hardware requirements will go up.

Would need a monitor too, definitely would like ultrawide 21:9, but im not sure whether to just max out 1080p or if 1440p would be great without too much of a hit to fps.

Great setup. With that one it's not the decision between 1080p and 1440p in my opinion...You can run NBA 2k20 at 4k without any problems with this setup. I have a worse rig (Ryzen 3600x and RTX 2070 Super) and I am running 2k20 constant 60 FPS (should be around 80-90, but online is capped at 60) with that. Of course, I cannot speak for the upcoming next gen 2ks, but I think you are safe to run that very high, too.

Just a tip: Look for Crucial SSDs. You usually should get one at the sime price like yours, but with 1 TB storage.
