The guy who made those jerseys has comparison screenshots on his thread so its not hard to spot, for example default Bulls red ones are pretty dark, while the modded version is way brighter. Try going into a game with those jerseys with Bulls without the jersey mod and look at the color, put the mod in and repeat, you should notice the difference easily.

when do i place them just in the modded folder and when do i place them in the shared folder?

Place them in the modded folder all the time, UNLESS it says from the person that uploaded either in the file or page to put it in the shared folder
