Re: NBA 2K12 Player Ratings Revealed, Including All Free Agents

So let me get this straight .
Amare has a career year and goes from 90 off to 85 off ?
and
Melo goes from 98 off and 87 def
to .................
90 off and 73 def ?
really ??
thats a huge difference !
I thought Melo was pretty good in NY .
Or do players that go to the knicks get downgraded because they play for Mike D ?
lmao

Re: NBA 2K12 Player Ratings Revealed, Including All Free Agents

What I can't wrap my head around is the fact that people who haven't seen the game in play take one stat out of the blue and base their whole opinion on it.

Let's remove names for an example:
Player A has Mid Range at 78, Player B has Mid Range at 95; which one do you choose?
Now, same example, but some more stats: Player A also has Shot on the run, Shot in traffic, and Consistency at 90, while Player B has the same stats at 50; now which do you choose?

Same thing with overall ratings: people will compare players just based on those, letting their opinion skew the reality. Overall is what it says on the box, it takes everything into consideration. So the most athletic guy with the best dunking skills might be a fan favourite and a highlight waiting to happen, but if he can't shoot from range and can't defend, the guy who's average in those three categories will have a higher rating. It seems so simple to grasp that I can't understand why there is so much fuss on the stats.

The other thing to keep in mind: stats don't mean jack! If you want the game to play realistically and to be able to do that, you need to give a player lower stats than would seem normal for him, just do it. What do you prefer: to see Kobe IG play like Kobe IRL on the floor or see Kobe IG have the stats that feel right, but play completely differently than IRL? Get a grip!

Melo would have been a 98 if he had went to the Nets but .... he decided to go to the Knicks and play in Madison Square Garbage.

Not too mention you can almost guarantee the Drew Gooden's and the Matt Carroll's with 90 mid range cant shoot of the dribble, are terrible in traffic, and probably only have
one or two hot spots.

Re: NBA 2K12 Player Ratings Revealed, Including All Free Agents

Guys besides all the complaining going on in here. Doesn't anyone find it down right amazing the thought process that goes into the ratings. I would love to see their forumla on a chalk board in front of me right now. Like what else are base ratings? Obviously 3pt shooting would be one. Dribbling would be another one (with ball security, offball hand being supporting ratings).

Thanks guys. I'm going to sit here and try to figure out this forumla now lol.

I would love if VC did an insight on how the ratings translated into the game. To be honest I played the demo last night and they are using STATS data system.
