Agree with the OG post.

Freely admitting that my opinion is likely colored by having a two-way build...but most of the solutions i've seen proposed are...wacky. Kick people for too many steal attempts?

I think the best solution is the simple one (and is one someone said above). Steal success simply needs to be reduced overall, and should scale with your steal rating and badges. Athletic and impressive steal animations should be reserved for players with high steal ratings, like fancy dunks are reserved for players with high dunk ratings and speed boosting for characters with high ball control.

2K needs to do a better job of discerning between good on-ball steal attempts and bad on-ball steal attempts.

Here’s what it looks like in Pro-Am/Rec.

On this one I have no idea where bro is passing it but I hit square as soon as he passes it like a great defender should and make a nice over the shoulder one handed snag like a modern day Terrell Owens.


Here I’m mad because I’ve just turned it over. In my rage I blindly mash square and make a slick no-look deflection on the outlet pass. “GOOD D!” exclaim my teammates. Pre natural awareness like Pippen, I have.


I know someone will say this was a good defensive play. And sure, dude obviously anticipated the pass. But he’s not even looking at me, wouldn’t know exactly where the ball was going but somehow palms it from point blank. A deflection? Maybe. Straight up gloving it like Gary Payton reborn? Naw.


Alright this guy clearly noticed the intended target. So he proceeds to accelerate like the Flash, moving faster than the ball, to run this one down. Puts Richard Sherman to shame.

To be successful in Pro-Am this year, all you have to do is press inbounds and spam steal in the passing lanes. It's a joke tbh

Lol man this is only from this morning. These aren’t even close to the most awful I’ve seen. Some guys should be doing touchdown dances after some of the snags they make.

I was going to record me getting ripped after rebounds but most of the time all you see is me grab the board, the screen spin, me stumbling away from the ball and the screen spinning back.
