Re: Do people miss the OLD 2k before the Badges?

To be quite honest, the game today is a byproduct of no other archetype being able to access high defensive ratings or powerful defensive badges to negate the BS (ESPECIALLY HOF BADGES) other than LDDs. I said it at the beginning of the year that this was gonna cause problems as soon as I saw the caps. Nobody wanted to believe it. And now here we are.

I think at times the game is too reliant on badges, but I also think badges in sports games are super dope and also necessary. One of my favorite Madden games was I think 08? When they added those player type badges. It adds a whole new layer to gameplay and covers things ratings don't/can't. Guys who may be corner specialists may not necessarily be good 3 point shooters in other spots. I think they should bring back more badges, especially all the different dribbling badges because some guys excel at different moves. Like Westbrook is less stylish with his dribbling than Steph, but they both have Gold ankle breaker badges. Westbrook rarely even uses step-backs in real life so I don't think his should be as effective as Steph's. Or how LeBron isn't an on-ball thief but he has pick pocket because he plays the passing lanes better than anyone. Interceptor should be in the game for players like him.

I actually feel like they should have negative badges even though they probably won't because the players would get offended. James Harden should have a spaced-out badge for his defense lapses. Steph should have a bad decisions badge for when he throws behind the back passes into the crowd. Westbrook would have the hall of fame version for all the horrible shots he puts up in the clutch.

I believe once they find a balance, it'll be the defining aspect of this game.

Lmao. Pretty much. I just get tired of seeing guys who never take plays off space out like this. Kawhi, Draymond, Tony Allen. These are guys who are in your grill every possession. You'd be hard pressed to find substantial footage of them blowing assignments. Yet in 2K they play just as poorly off-ball as anybody else. I think this badge would separate them from the rest. We need more badges!!

All of what you mentioned is fixable via tendencies but updated and well maintaned tendencies and not the ones we have now, on the other hand please NO hall of nothing, especially NO to hall of fame badges. Its just a bad idea having so many badges and on top of that having unique badges that are even powerful than regular badges, feels like pokemon evolution thing.

I think this is a fantastic idea, but I can see users upset if it takes away control.

Re: Do people miss the OLD 2k before the Badges?

The game isn't balanced anymore as it has been like ps3 era. It's so one-sided and that's why i keep hearing more and more about stuff like 'the game wanted this or that' as these unbalanced things arise the game will start to feel cheaper and cheaper and feel out of control and out of motor skills and basketball feel. As a big big 2k fan for years and years and as a fan of this fantastic dev crew i unfortunately stopped playing 2k17 like 2-3 weeks ago and i don't feel like going back even after the latest patch.

I think that's something that needs to happen. In this aspect of the game I think we should have less control. The idea that somebody can turbo and take advantage of angles to turn Steph or Kyrie into a lockdown defender is absurd. It ruins that strategy that basketball has. Yeah Kerr is gonna keep Steph in for offense, but he knows he has to try and hide him on the other end. The way the game is now, you can't expose these types of guys who are offensive juggernauts with suspect D. And it turns them into Gods because their only weakness can be subverted by stick skills. When no amount of effort IRL is gonna turn Kyrie into the Gary Payton-esque defender that he becomes in the right user's hands.
