MyLeague Simmed Stats

Skip to the bottom of this post to find a summary of my findings this year

Hey everybody, this thread is for us fans who are very OCD about our simmed stats in MyLeague, for those gamers who aren't, thats fine this thread isn't for you. Lets try to keep it clean and on point.

So every year I go through the rosters, make sure all the rotations and major coach settings are on point, then sim a couple seasons to see how stats have improved from the previous year.

I start off by looking at the following Team stats first:

- Pace
- Defensive Efficiency
- Offensive Efficiency
- Offensive Rebound %
- Defensive Rebound %
- Opponent Three Pointers Allowed

One big disappointment this year, you aren't able to edit a coaches POE's. Which in 2K16 is the biggest factor that led to realistic stats. This is now gone. And if you can't control the pace of every team in the league then every other stat is going to be inflated and unrealistic. The average pace in the league last season was around 96. That is now the LOWEST a team will average in 2K17. This really disappoints me. I'm going to try and see if there are other coach factors that dictate how fast a team plays. I'll fill you guys in soon.

Updated Summary:
- Player speed/acceleration ratings have no effect on team pace.
- Lowering Player shots/toutches has no effect on team pace.

PROS:
- Player steals stats are editable using the Pass Interception Tendency.

CONS:
- Player Free Throw Attempts Per game remain unchanged (too low)
- Coach Grades (Offense/Defense) have no effect on simmed stats.
- Coach Styles have no effect on simmed stats.
- 90% of the league has an elite defensive efficiency rating.

2K17 League Averages for Teams (listed in order of importance):
Posting this information just in case the Devs decide to address the simmed stats like they said they did last year.

Pace: 98.6
Defensive Efficiency: 103.4
Team Fouls Per Game: 18
Defensive Rebound Percentage: 77% (Perfect)
Offensive Rebound Percentage: 22% (Perfect)

- For reference, the league hasn't had an average pace of 98 since the 1980s. It's just way off. This is whats throwing off most of the other stats. The average pace in the NBA last season was 95.8 and in the last decade its been around 92.5.

- Defensive Efficiency is way too high across the league. The average Defensive Efficiency was 106.4 last season, in 2K17 that number is 103.4. Almost every team has what would equate to a top 10 defensive rating in the real NBA.

- Too few fouls are being averaged. Average team commits 18 fouls a game over the course of a season, in real life that number is 20.

- The actual rebound percentages are fine. The problem is with the Rebound averages. The average team grabbed 33 Defensive rebounds a game last season, in 2K17 that number is 39! Way too high.

No POE? How are we going to edit a team to be more unique? Man I hope it's not just solely based on ACE.

Im right there with you on being OCD about sim stats, and if they arent accurate the game is ruined for me, and a wasted of money, so its been a long while since I have truly enjoyed NBA2k.

Be 1 of the 1st things I check when firing it up for the 1st time. Probably play a few games just because im ancy to play it, but then it will be checking out those sim stats in MyLeague.

Good news is it looks like editing will be easier on rosters this yr, but it get old spending so many months editing and testing to get right, then for every draft class you have to then edit all those tendencies, and it gets to the point on just getting burned out.

So Im holding out hope they finally fixed the sim stats this yr. It seems OG is a stats nut too, so hoping it finally right for once in a very long time.

Re: MyLeague Simmed Stats

Ok so the POE's are available when you're playing in-game. But not outside the game, so MyLeague stats look like they're going to take a step back. I'm really disappointed. I thought they were headed in a great direction last year. We have no way of individualizing each team. On the Team stats page, almost every team plays at a pace of 99.

I wonder if this is something that can be patched in since the in-game POE options are still there, so maybe the coach profiles options are still there just hidden? I have no idea but I'm betting this is a long shot. Really bummed out about this aspect of the game.

Damn, I certainly share your disappointment ant. Sim stats are a huge reason I haven't played a Madden franchise in years and I hate to see 2K take a step back when they seemed to be heading in the right direction the last couple years.

Knowing how much Erick cares about stats, I'm hoping this oversight is caught and potentially correctable in a patch. Editing tendencies can only take us so far.

If they can't patch it at least they could change it via a roster update or something. I would hate it if every team played at Don Nelson's Warriors pace.

This isn't Don Nelson's Warriors.

This is Paul Westhead's Nuggets.

Average points scored: 120
Average points allowed: 130

(And this is coming from a guy that LIKES Westhead's system.)

Hey, what if they played each other?

My feelings too, I thought NBA2k16 took a big step forward in sim stats finally being corrected, it had its issues that it shouldnt have had, mainly due to 2k having such screwed up tendencies for players, and wrong POE for teams, but there was also some things that needed tweaked under the hood to that only the devs are able to do.

If the POE isnt editable to where your able to adjust all teams play style that could be a big issue this yr, wish I had known this before buying the digital version. Maybe the devs tweaked things under the hood and the sim stats will be fine, we should know soon enough.

It seems OG is a big stats guy too, so Im hoping its all been worked out this yr finally. I would think that they would sim several seasons to check all stats each yr, I know MLBTS does this each yr, and while their stats are better they arent perfect either, but they do seem to make more of a attempt than NBA2k does.
Hoping all this worry about sim stats will be for naught and they got it right this yr finally, after all they werent all that far off last yr, but just enough to be a issue.
Id say the biggest problem I have with NBA2k team that works on rosters, is they will adjust a player attributes a pt here and a pt there, yet they dont adjust tendencies of players. Honestly the tendencies are more important than the a players overall rating, so bumping up a attribute here and there dont do much of anything. Im sure that the roster guy or guys, only have so much time, and probably not enough time to dedicate to the roster updates, but if they would get tendencies close to right at the beginning, it wouldnt be all that big a deal.

Im sure gameplay will be excellent as it almost always is with this game each yr, and it will be fun to play, I just wish a little more was put into sim stats, because the NBA and sports in general are stat driven.

Here's hoping for the best this year with sim stats, but not holding my breath either that they will be accurate.
