Remember how in NBA Live 2000 players would jump so high for blocks, they'd float through most of the rim and backboard?

Now fiends are sweating ankle sizes and having muscle rigs that flex and simulate the real thing.

They'll get on the devs for not having individual hair follicles on eyebrows before long.

i don't cosign the overly-hyped "player build" discussions. i don't think 2K necessarily ever gets them right either but i dont play FIFA to see if they get Messi 100% accurate either. But this thread is 20+ pages of hyped player build and art lolol. I play the entire game for an accurate portrayal of the sport(or as close as they can get within the confines of code). when they drop the gameplay, we'll get to the tale of the tape.

i do like that 2K is trying to add to the actual NBA experience with the halftime shows and such tho. appreciate that.

So you're saying that these guys can't get players' bodies to look like the real life thing? I disagree.

Add muscle/definition to Westbrook's arms (which isn't hard to do), and nobody complains.

Stop giving these guys such thick calves/ankles, and you'll hear no more complaining about that either.

This is all stuff 2K COULD do, but choose not too. We aren't asking for things that are unachievable. These are things that should be correct if they just look at actual photos of these players.

It's kind of sad.

Are you kidding? Immediately it would be "Too much definition" or "not enough definition".

Or what about the definition for the definition?

I dont mind the complaints if you word them right. For example, Howard has a different haircut and has had one for months. They shouldve fixed that.

So there is nothing wrong with saying "Damn, I was hoping they would get Howard's new haircut in."

But like anything people have to go further and describe some of the player faces and models as "horrendous" or claiming the devs dont try.

This point of view that many guys have doesn't make any sense.
If everyone was like that they would still release NBA Live 2000 type of games because everyone would be fine with that.

We're talking about things that are so easy to fix and add some much to the realism of the game that is baffling that they're still wrong (baggy shorts, bulky legs, player models in general).

And it's absolutely false that you notice those things only on close ups

See the thing I hate about having these discussions is that there are always old heads who go to the extreme with this stuff. I played those games too, and yes we have come along way. But this isn't the 90's anymore. We've come to expect certain things because...for the most part we know they're capable of getting these things completely accurate. The main issue currently though is that last year they advertised body scanning but didn't specify that it wasn't for body types but just for accurate skin textures and tattoos. If they never advertised body scanning I don't think there would be as much backlash about this, albeit some because some bodies are obviously off.
Wanting authenticity and accuracy in the finer details shouldn't be a problem with all the resources available nowadays, especially if you're advertising this is the most authentic sim of a real sport.

Things like accessories, jerseys, and yes even calf sizes matter when it comes to bringing your favorite sport to life in this day and age because we've gotten to a point that they can accurately recreate our favorite players down to the smallest details (LeBron's I Promise wristbands and Anthony Davis' teeth for example).

People would complain about something else. Thats what they do here and on the internet.

Has an NBA game ever gotten all 450 NBA players faces and models to look like the real thing?
