Re: Post Move Variety

I have to agree I cringed when players were taking post fades they had no business taking.

Howard took 1 Fade away jump shot missed it
Howard took 9 turnaround jump shot made 2

Cousins took 20 fade away jumpers 35.0% success
Cousins took 11 turnaround fade and turn around jumpers 18%

Jefferson took 4 fade away jumpers made 1
Jefferson took 63 turnaround fade and turnaround jumpers 46%

Dirk took 76 fade away jumpers 57.9% success
Dirk took 86 turnaround fade and turnaround jumpers 48% success

LeBron took 55 fade away jumpers 38.2% success
LeBron took 54 turnaround fade and turnaround jumpers 37%

Aldridge took 39 fadeaway jumpers 43.6%
Aldridge took 170 turnaround fade and turnaround jumpers 46%

All of this from NBA.com, they need to get the touches right

Re: Post Move Variety

Id really like it if the gameplay team looks at why post hooks almost never go in, and the close/inside shot slider should seem to help this but doesn't? Its really confusing to me tbh. I cant really use offensive post players because of this.

Also, it seems anything except up and unders just triggers the cpu to steal the ball more often than not. I play on superstar custom sliders,

Re: Post Move Variety

There is already a fairly large amount of post move variety in 2k... The problem is that the moves that should be high percentage are actually the lowest percentage...

Hooks and Drop-steps should go in more than fades if you have a significant size advantage...

I cant tell you how many times Ive drop-stepped with my 7'3 340 lb C against a guard only to be manhandled as though I was a baby seal...

I think part of the problem is that people don't know when and how to combo the moves effectively... 2K does a poor job of explaining the post game...

Skip to 37 seconds in... Watch the amount of easy baskets I get off the dropstep...

Re: Post Move Variety

Honestly the biggest issue with the post game in 2k isn't the variety, it's the effectiveness... The Center doesn't have the unstoppable impact he should against small forwards and guards...

I cant blame people like Barkley and Kareem for not wanting to be in the game... You wouldn't want to be in it either if they disrespected your abilities...

I can think of plenty of post moves that are not in 2k, but Id prefer for them to first fix the one that are in the game before they add anymore...

Re: Post Move Variety

It's also the accessibility of those moves. Like the different up and under moves basically fire when they want in my experience. The hook shot misses way too often especially if it's properly leveled up. For all I care give my a shot timer to do it but with a Center at 7'2 and a hookshot at 95 even against another center that shot should be money 90% of the time. There is no way that you would have a 50% rate on that shot or lower. That kind of shot is made for having body contact and needing to seperate yourself and then rising up. Because of the mechanics it also can not be blocked unless your opponent is taller or has way longer arms so the effect of defense on you when you take it should be minimized because you know that you or rather the player won't be blocked.

I'm also missing the back to the basket Shaq Shimmy that ended in a Dunk nearly every time and is still employed by Anthony Davis and others in a way and was actually something that Shaq took from Derrick Coleman.
Missing to me is also the famous pull the chair manoeuvre in the post, or at least I haven't seen it, when a guxy is backing in to your player and you simply take away the pressure so he falls on his ***.

I'm just missing the whole power feeling in the post... yes today it's harder to get the ball there and it slows the game down but I think 2k and most people forget that once you get the ball to your beast in the post he is still the most physically dominant guy in there and it doesn't translate to the game. Not every big man has the grace of Olajuwon with all his moves but most have the power of a Shaq or Patrick Ewing like Anthony Davis, Greg Monroe, Andre Drummond, Marc Gasol, DeMarcus Cousins and others. Those are strong guys and they just feel weak and floopy when backing down or going up against opposition. I hope they will fix that.

^ this.

You cant tell the difference between Grace and Power in the post in 2k... They need to add a lean feature in the post too that factors in weight and quickness so you can "feel" how your match-up is playing you defensively...

Re: Post Move Variety

Im hoping with the reworked post, a drop step dunk actually comes out now when appropriate.

Re: Post Move Variety

As a post 2k player I hope they don't make it too easy to strip the ball nor easy to push a heavy player out of the post. I made my CAP a 7'1" 300lb big man and it was irritating when I would easily get bumped out of the post in rec. I may not be as good as Extra but it was aggravating trying to develop the post game with these mechanics.
