Better Dynasty? 2005 San Antonio Spurs vs 1996 Chicago Bulls. NBA FINALS

CHICAGO -- The battle of dynasties begin in this NBA Finals between the 2005 San Antonio Spurs and the 1996 Chicago Bulls.

Watch the game here: https://youtu.be/kOBb7iEAaQw

The Spurs got off to a hot start as the Bulls failed to prepare properly defensively against San Anotnio's 3-pt game. 2 early 3pointers by Barry set the tone and the SPurs grabbed a 13-3 advantage early on, forcing an early timeout. Chicago regrouped defensively, and got going on the other end, responding with a 12-4 run to cut the lead to 2. Parker finsihed strong for the Spurs, scoring 10 in the period, and the Spurs take a 4-pt lead into the 2nd quarter.

Disappointed with the team play thus far, Jordan started the 2nd aggressive. Starting with 2 dunks to start the period, MJ scored 18 in the quarter to help set a competitive tone for the team vs the Spurs. The Spurs remained solid, however, with good ball movement and fastbreak. Parker continued his brilliance, scoring another 8 including 2 late baskets to help San Antonio stay in the lead going into the half, 50-48.

The Bulls got off to a quick start in the 3rd, going up by 4 early on. The SPurs, however, responded with a 10-0 run that had them regain the lead by 6, halfway. It was back and forth as the Bulls got into an 8-2 run of their own and was able to hold off Parker and co. to maintain a 2pt lead heading into the 4th.

The game remained close in the final period. Jordan would have a huge quarter, 15 pts, but he was countered by the Spurs' own superstar, Tim Duncan who would counter with 10 pts of his own, leading a more balanced attack from San Antonio. Duncan seemed likely to topple Jordan and the Bulls as he scored on a crazy follow-up slam on the break to give the Spurs a 4 pt lead with just a minute to go. But the championship mettle of MJ and the Bulls pulled thru in the final minute in a streak of huge plays both offensively and defensively that would prove critical in the dying seconds.

The winning sequences with 1:05 to go:
1. Kukoc 3-pointer to cut the lead to 1.
2. And-1 by Jordan over Parker on the fastbreak that gave the Bulls a 2-pt lead.
3. Huge interception by Rodman of an intended alleyoop between Parker and Duncan
4. ROdman makes 1 of 2 FT for a 3-pt lead
5. Jordan blocks DUncan underneath the basket with 15 secs left.

Jordan would make 2FT's to seal the deal and give the Bulls a 101-96 victory in Game 1.

Jordan finished the game with 48 pts, 3 rebs 9 assts 1 stl and 1 blk. Pippen added 27 with Kukoc 12 pts off the bench. Rodman had 12 boards, but the winning steal and FT.

Tony Parker led the Spurs with 28 pts 9 assts, while Duncan had a huge double-double 24 pts 18 rebs.

Re: Better Dynasty? 2005 San Antonio Spurs vs 1996 Chicago Bulls. NBA FINALS

CHICAGO -- After a close contest in Game 1, the '05 SPurs battle the '96 Bulls into the final seconds of Game 2 once again as the Sours try to steal home court.\

Game link: https://youtu.be/Xgzhsx0s-FM

The first quarter was a low scoring one, both teams taking turns with the lead but no momentum swing on either side. Jordan was not having a good shooting night, 5/12 in the first, but neither was Duncan who started 1/5. Game was tied at 21.
.
The Spurs started the 2nd period on 12-2 run, led by Robert Horry and Manu Ginobili. The Spurs were hitting 3s and were up double digits for most of the period. Bulls' perimeter guys were not connecting, only Jordan was reliably producing for the Bulls as they head out the half trailing by 9, 56-47.

The 3rd quarter was rough for the Bulls. The SPurs defense was forcing them into tough shots while the Spurs continued to be aggressive in the pain and outside. They started the quarter 11-4 run to give themselves a 16 pts lead, forcing an early Bulls timeout. Bulls would try to regroup but every rally is met by just slippery offense from the Spurs. Parker was slicing thru without much resistance, scoring 9 and helping the Spurs grab a 12-pt lead, 83-71 heading into the 4th.

The Bulls were in danger of losing homecourt, staring at a double digit deficit in the 4th. Jordan stayed on rather than his usual rest at the start of the quarter. He did all he could, scored 8 straight points in the first few minutes, to help get the Bulls back in the game. But for every Jordan bucket, the Spurs seemed to have an answer. Jordan finally got his rest midway the 4th and Pippen comes in. He would be able to carry the Bulls offense but again, the Spurs were able to keep the lead, leading by 5 with less than 2 mins remaining.

Bulls make one last push. Witj JOrdan in the post, SPurs double and leave PIppen open for a 3 at the top of the key. SWISH! Lead is 2. Spurs ball and Jordan and Pippen took turns guarding Parker. Great defense leads to a forced 3 from Parker over Pippen. MISSED! On the next play, they run their patented triangle leading to a slam by Jordan. TIED GAME with 53 secs to go. Spurs turn and they turn to Duncan. He is doubled by Longley and ROdman but still makes a shot to give the SPurs the lead again. Bulls on the next possession and they respond by finding Steve Kerr at the corner. He drills a 3 in frot of Parker to give the Bulls a 1 pt lead with 23.8 secs to go. SPurs go to Duncan again on their final play, and he is hacked by Rodman. Duncan misxes the first FT but makes the second.

TIed game with 20.7 secs to go. Bulls ball. Final play to Jordan.

Tony Parker led the SPurs with 22 pts 9 assts 2 stls. TIm Duncan had 18 pts 17 rebs. SPurs once again with the more balanced attack. 6 players in double figures.

Jordan finished with 42 pts 6 rebs 11 assts 1 stl. Pippen added 25 While Kukoc had 15.

Re: Better Dynasty? 2005 San Antonio Spurs vs 1996 Chicago Bulls. NBA FINALS

SAN ANTONIO, TX -- After losing the first two contests that were extremely tight, the Spurs are out in Game 3 to try to prove they are the better team in this series, with the home crowd cheering them along.

Game link :
https://youtu.be/IpnmH9rVwKw

The Spurs jumped out of the gate with a 16-6 run, with outstanding sniping, great defense, and Tim Duncan. Classic Spurs basketball. Duncan was unstoppable, shooting 6/6 for 12 pts in the first, while Manu Ginobili who was inserted into the starting lineup, also finished the period strong. Jordan was cold out of the gate, just 4/11 shooting, and the Spurs take a 12 pt lead after one, 32-20.

The SPurs offense continued to flow well in the 2nd, leading by as much as 17. Scottie Pippen was doing his best to carry the offense while Jordan continued to struggle. He had an amazing quarter, 6/11 including 2/3 from 3, for 16 pts, but that wasn't enough to make a dent. The Spurs balanced attack and outside attack kept the SPurs ahead, with a 13-pt advantage at the half, 59-46

In the 3rd quarter, Jordan was able to find some rhythm shooting a better percentage and going to the line. He had 11 pts in the period, and the Bulls got to within 6 pts. However, the Spurs had an answer, and it was Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili who continued to sparkthe Spurs offense. Manu and Duncan combined for 16 pts in the period. The Spurs ended the 3rd period on 15-8 run tro give the home team a healthy 13 pt lead going into the 4th.

In the 4th quarter, the Spurs did a masterful job of doubling Jordan everytime he is in scoring position. MJ was forced to pass it out,, but, unfortunately, his perimeter players couldn't make a shot! THe Bulls shot a combined 38% only in the 4th, while the Spurs continued their excellent game, shooting 53%. The Spurs led by over 20 pts, and left no doubt, they were the better team in this series.

Spurs blowout Jordan and the Bulls by 23, 115-92. They cur the Bulls lead to 2-1.

The Spurs Big-3 was indeed big in Game 3. They combined for 68 pts, led by Manu Ginobili, whose joining the Starting 5, really changed the offensive machinery of the Spurs. Parker & Duncan both had 20-pt double-doubles. Parker with 20 pts 13 assts, Duncan with 24 pts 14 rebs.

Jordan led the Bulls with 33, but shot just 11/24 from the field. He dished out 14 assists. Pippen who had a huge 1st half, fizzled in the 2nd, finishing with 24 pts. Kerr had 18 off the bench, 5/9 from 3..
