Should NBA 2K get rid of team Tiers?

What is the purpose of having tiers for teams in the Play Now team vs team online mode?

Should 2K get rid of this format within the game to give us an option to play with a lower ranked team against a higher ranked team?

PNO thread would be a better place.

But since we're here. The old format didn't work period. Everyone wants to play with the best teams. There is no changing that. Even with the incentive of giving more VC for upset wins. That still didn't force people to play with other teams. People would rather play with top teams for easier experience. Unless you can think of another format.

But here is the other thing. You don't have to change teams. You can just play at freshmen with the same team over and over.

Tiers don't matter, I use Portland which is Tier 3 and get nothing but Tier 1 opponents.

How so? Prior to the Damian Lillard trade, Portland were just in Tier 2, and now they are in Tier 3. Which level of ranking are you on to be playing against Tier 1 teams?

Huh yeah that doesn't make sense. Portland is tier 2. The only time I've faced people outside my tier is when I play on the switch. My guess is because they don't have that many users on that platform. But facing others on PS5 or Xbox is insane. Do you only play with one team? I think they have a list rules for the tier system. If they can find someone in your tier then yes match. I think there are also rules within a tier. I think there are sub tiers within the tier. That's why we see a teams face each other a lot

I use Portland, prior to us trading Dame we were Tier 2, we're now Tier 3.

I don't mind I'd rather play Tier 1 teams anyway. What I don't want is to play historic teams as I have no interest in that.

But yes, I am getting Tier 1 teams while searching with a Tier 3 team.

I'm still in Freshman, I just use the Blazers and have no interest in climbing as I like to play Portland

I think that's another "rule" Anyone playing in the same league with a certain number of games is exposed to tier one teams. Again my theory.

We were just talking about this in the PNO thread about facing classic teams. I don't they would do that. As much as I'd love for them too.
