Tbh there are enough pass options already.

Not to mention badges and takeovers that help in that area.

The skill that come with passing is pretty much just the court vision of user tbh.

Knowing when to pass, to who and what kind of pass.

Even with all that you would be surprised how many bad decisions people make.

Tbh im getting tired on how they keep adding stuff to bail people out for terrible decisions making…

Re: NBA 2K24: Skilled based Passing

I definitely need 2k to address the simplistic passing options we've had since ages. I need to be able to have control of the speed of the pass. Could be tied to how long you hold the button, quick letting go means a zip pass / one handed long pass or whatever (if a player has high rating it has more of a chance to be successful rather than a lower rated passer).

Also the arch and angle of the pass we should be able to have control over so we can have the ability to at least try those Jokic Sengun passes, can throw a lob over even Wemby next year in a realistic way among other things. Leaning passes would also be good, so you can actually stand still, push the stick to the left or right or use L2 & R2 to lean in a way to pass around someone right in front of you.

We are way too limited and it baffles me how very few people talk about it and act like we have already many options. Sure the type of pass, but for the rest, we have little to no control.

NBA 2K24: Skilled based Passing

This is one of those things you can run the risk of over complicating

There are plenty of passing options in the game, including the old Total Control Passing which a lot of guys forgot about, as well as the passing slider profiles.

Contextual animations and mechanics can always be improved but IQ and ratings should play the biggest role. I do like that ratings play a bigger role in passing this year…Having a bad/slow passer on your team is a headache.

Yep.

How many passes in a real game miss the mark? 1%?

When we’re moving the ball around the perimeter, do we need a skill element to learn?

I think dill is already involved. It’s knowing what pass to use and when. I’ve often thrown an entry pass in that got stolen because the defender had the angle. I should have thrown in from different angle or used lob.

And as you said, ratings seperate good from bad passes. I would like to see more awkward catch animations but passing feels good to me.

Yep speed is a good suggestion.

Having said this, Czar has said passing is the most difficult area of the game to code. It can impact everything.

Re: NBA 2K24: Skilled based Passing

1) My most requested passing feature is icon pass flashies and alley oops:

-- tap the icon twice for a flashy pass
-- tap the icon once then hold down the second press for an alley oop

2) I also feel like icon lead passing should default to "off" instead of "on" because many beginner 2K players don't realize that their left joystick input is the reason why their passes keep pulling the receiver wildly out of position.

3) Another thing that bugs me is how long it takes for the skip pass animation to start after you hold down the A button to throw the ball crosscourt. There's like a 1 second delay before the input will register, and your window to throw the pass through traffic has often closed by the time the ball finally leaves your hands.

4) The "you aren't allowed to inbound the ball yet" button delay that occurs after a made basket is a huge pain online since it gives your opponent more time to setup their full court press that you could've easily broken through if the game would just let you throw the ball in as soon as your foot steps behind the baseline like it used to many 2Ks ago around the start of the PS4 era.

5) It also seems like the ref takes forever to give you the ball this year during all non-live inbound situations, which can really stretch out the total match time in games where there're lots of violations and timeouts. Dead-ball inbounds need to have a much faster return to live action.

Re: NBA 2K24: Skilled based Passing

The other day i noticed something that i can't believe took me so long to see. But the disparity in bounce passes in 2K vs irl is crazy. The more i thought about it i began to wonder: Does the CPU even attempt bounce passes?

I for one think the passing system needs to be overhauled to be more dynamic. How to pull this off? No idea. Seems difficult but i always saw it as a weak point in basketball games.

Also for the love of god! Can we PLEASE get handoffs that work properly most of the time? Having a GSW franchise and trying to mimic the way they play irl is so hard because of how hit and miss the handoffs are. I'll hold circle and a lot of the times the player i want to hand it off to will just slowly jog to the player w the ball, stand next to him and and just catch a 'pitch pass'. Like I'm NOT trying to ever do a pitch pass. I want my player to sprint arouns the ball handler catch the hand off while the hand off-er (lol) is setting a screen. Is there a way to have this happen everytime? Like am I doing something wrong? It kinda makes a whole category of playcalling (DHO's) useless
