He wants people to watch his Twitch and his Youtube channel, and you can subscribe there for a few bucks too. Essentially, he's saying there's no way to monetize his posts on OS, so he's gonna stick to the platforms where he can so that the work he puts in yields at least a little bit of money. It's not "locked behind a paywall". He posts everything for free on his YouTube channel. He posts it for members a few days early but after that it's posted for everyone.

Agree on that. But saying he's charging for sliders is a bit of an unfair characterization.

Kinda. I mean if you watch his live streams during his testing, he literally covers up the screen so you can’t see his adjustments to the sliders. Like that’s just cringy to me. We all pay enough money as it is on video games. We can support the guy a different way, theres no need to pay extra.

I've made sliders (and apps!) for a long time, and I can confidently say it is nothing special, really. 97% of the experience is game design, and us slider makers are tinkering with the final 2-3%. I've gotten credit for a lot of hyperbole on many occasions.

Having said that, I like Schnaidt's work and don't really care how he handles it all, one way or another. I look forward to what he comes up with, however he decides to share it.

But I'll just say, to anyone who will listen, there are FAR better ways to make money than in adjusting sliders for video games.
