I'm still annoyed on how reliant the submissions are on the stamina, I'm hoping this will be a little bit different on the full version but with how closely rated everyone is I somehow doubt it.

Agreed, submissions should be based off a combination of submission offense, submission defense of the other guy, plus position. And this shine crap is HORRIBLE, it hurts your hand and some people have broken controllers due to it. THQ has to find another way to implement submissions other than the person who spins their stick the fastest gets it...that is so stupid IMO.

It definitely isn't just who spins the stick fastest. My friend can rarely pull off subs on me and he uses the palm of his hand and spins it frantically. I just stay relaxed and spin it with my thumb, but it certainly is not as fast as my friend.

I don't mind the Shine at all, I'm good at it, and after playing the crap out of 2009, it doesn't hurt my palm anymore. I can transition quickly between controller "holds" and spin that thing like a mofo within about half a second... this game ruined me. I haven't messed with the subs enough on the demo, but I'm excited to see the possibilities with sub switching and also how the ratings play out in that battle this year.

This is what i read of an interview of one of the game designers. The submission system is based off of submission rating and stamina level. For example a fighter with a low submission rating but high stamina the game will look at his stamina level. This eliminated the need for button mashing. So if the same fighter has low stamina and then it will look at ur sub rating. This is when u shine hard if u have a low sub rating. This theory is understandable beacuse a fresh fighter is harder to submit. Also a tired fighter with high sub defense should be just as hard to submit. It's when ur tired and have low sub defense u better shine your *** off.

But that's not my concern. My concern is the sub spamming. Machida would put on a sub and I could break free. But my stamina was shot after. So I waited to get my stamina back but I guess machida recovers faster. So whilehes at full stamina I'm at maybe 80%. Then he would try sub again. Then I would get out and try recover again but thistime while machidas full stamina I'm at pike 70% and he would keep doing this till I'm low enough to submit me. Maybe like four sub attempts in a row till I tapped due to exhaustion from fitting it off. This is a big problem cause I can see cheesers Picking guys with fast recovery rates, taking you down and attempting subs till u tire and tapout.

I think the "SHINE" system blows hard honestly and i was/am successful with it....Just a bad mechanic (the entire concept kills the submisson game overall for me).

What bothers me more is the gimped ground game and the AUTO-Block...If you arent transitioning every 2 -3 seconds or so, they either stand you up or block your attempt and push you off.

Seems that they want the stand-up game to be the main focus...But I have a few issues with that as well.

But it is a DEMO and retail will be differant...I hope....

Wish i never DL'd the demo honestly.

One of the interviews said you get a free transition after a canceled submission - so just transition to standing and you're fine.
