Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread

Hey guys, first time posting in here but I've been reading the forums for a while now. Figured it was time to get in on the fun.

Anyways. I'm at All Star break in my 2016 Twins franchise. My prospect pool is fairly good. (Made some trades to dump the likes of Nolasco and Plouffe and got some decent returns). I'm 38-50ish on the season but only 7 games out of 1st in the division. Basically I'm looking to set myself up for next year since realistically even if I wild card this year I can't compete the way I want to. I want to see what I can get for Big Erv., Hughes, Jepsen, and possibly Dozier. I have no plans to resign Jepsen, and though Dozier is playing well Polanco is an All star at Rochester batting .325 and I feel like Dozier might net me something more useful in the long run. Erv and Hughes just cost too much and I need cash to rebuild and sign Sano (.302/26HR) and Buxton(.336/19SB/5HR) to long term deals. Jepsen is throwing well enough for me to sell him as a rental (just under 3 ERA and 10 saves). And looking at the rotations of the other "in the hunt" teams just about all of them could use another solid starter (Erv and Hughes are mid 3's ERA and 6-7 and 7-7 respectively W-L)The Dodgers, Astros, Cubs, Blue Jays and Nats are all tops of their divisions.

Any suggestions? I'm thinking bullpen help (I think I have enough SP prospects but more never hurts particularly with good team control), a future 1st baseman to take over when Mauer retires, or a young 3rd baseman to replace Sano if he moves to 1st or DH.

Whats fair value for McCullers? I simply cant pitch with him. In offseason. Wouldnt mind a pitcher in return of his value or prospects

I'd be giving up two major league ready players with decent potential and good team control for a player in his final year on a team who are never going to compete? (already traded Myers to Red Sox)

Am I being a bit conservative and need to add a bit more? (I usually am)

Ahhhh Tyson Ross. Probably the most difficult player to figure out (to me atleast) in the history of The Show.

Keep in mind I am still playing the Show 15. And Ross is the most up and down pitcher i have ever come across. Both simming AND playing with him. The guy is as inconsistent as they come....of course I am talking about the game itself. He will literally go 8IP, no runs, one or two walks and 7 K to 3.1 IP and 6ER and 1 strikeout.

Having said that, I agree with MoneyMan17. I do not think he is worth a B level prospect if a prospect at all.

Like I said I'm playing on 15, what's he like in the versions after that (16 & 17)?

Starting the '17 season with the Yankees. Was hoping to move Chase Headley this season near the deadline. Not looking for much in return, but where would a realistic landing spot be? Even if I don't get much in return, just looking to shed the salary/make room for some prospects (Torres, Mateo).

I was actually looking at landing spots for Headley myself. I've seen the Braves floated a few times because they want to compete in 2017, and their third base situation is a mess. I know I'd be willing to pay down Headley's contract and add a piece to get Mike Foltynewicz and Rio Ruiz.

Folty has been my Eovaldi dream project for a while now, while I've always had a soft spot for Ruiz. I wonder if there is a trade there if I add something to Headley.

Was wondering how you go about paying down a contract in a trade? Would be willing to do this for Headley

You would have to take on another player's contract from the team you are trading with.

Another way to "retain salary" for a trade is release that player, take the cap hit then resign and trade him to your desired team
