Wow, are you serious? ARod had one of the best single seasons for a Yankee in 2007. 54 HR's, 155 RBI's. That is top 5 for a single season. Up there with Maris, Mantle, Ruth, DiMaggio and Gehrig. Do you have any clue how hard it is to duplicate that kind of season? Of course his OPS and Slugging were going to drop.

Arod had 30 Homeruns, 100 RBI's in 120 games last year. Should I mention that he was still playing injured the first 40 games back? Should I mention that the hip injury cut down on his doubles last year since he didn't want to push the running?

Longoria played over 30 more games and only had 3 more homeruns and 13 more rbi's.

Should I mention that an injured Arod had a .933 OPS compared to Longoria's .889??


You look at stats as being black and white but damn if you go into the shades of grey and why they were what they were. A 33 year old coming off of a major injury and putting up a better season compared to a 23 year old.

I doubt the ratings formulas figure in injuries.

I wasn't talking about the ratings. A Poster knocked Arod because of his OPS compared to 2007. My point was that 2007 was an all time great year that is hard to match. My other point was that ARod had a great OPS last year playing with a bad hip for a majority of the season. It's hard to turn singles into doubles when you can barely run. That leads to a lower slugging.
