Re: All Time MLB 2k12 Rosters

What criteria is used to determine who makes the team? For example, the Cardinals have 3 1B, but only 3 OF...that's not a good way to build a 25-man roster.

This is the team I'm building. Just throwing it out there if you want to re-think some of your choices.

Solid list tm_psycho, but there are a few that I think are missing off that PDF as well...

CF/RF - W. McGee
CF - C. Flood
CF - R. Lankford even has to be a consideration
LF - V. Coleman
2B - T. Herr
C - T. McCarver
P - Andujar
P - Forsch
P - Morris

As a Cardinals fan myself, I would love to see Pujols left off this list as A) he is currently active on the Angels and B) I have yet to forgive him for chasing a few more bucks vs being a lifetime Cardinal (how much money do you really need?) - I would rather see McGuire, Hernandez (probably has to be on the Mets roster tho), Jack Clark or you could just move Stan Musial to 1B, as he played a ton of 1B for the Cardinals during his career and start Enos in RF.

Cardinals had so many great players, especially in the OF - making an all-time Red Birds team needs to make use of AAA as well (at least)!

That was a clerical error on my part, And I was primarily running of of my own knowledge. I put in Medwick instead of Fernando Tatis, so that way they have four and they can move Pujols out there if need be, since Pujols played some Left Field for the Cardinals.

I'll see if I could put a screenshot up, but honestly they don't look great. Its hard to work with the terrible player editor in this game.

They arent going to look perfect I just want to see how they look....also I was wondering if I was getting close in the range of the overalls I first put out and the ratings they're ending up with that I gave them later

The overalls are usually a few points off but not drastically. I'd say the average is about 3 points off or so

That's the beauty of a project like this, the debate. When I build a team I like to have on the bench 2 OF, 1 corner IF, 1 middle IF, 1 C. There is so much talent at 2B, I decided to give up say Scott Rolen to carry 3 second baggers. None of the OF mentioned I can justify replacing any of the 5 on the roster...though there has been much debate about including McGee and/or Flood. I've thought about making a 40-man roster to include the guys that don't quite make the cut.

I love the balance in the lineup and especially the bench - 2 high OBP switch hitters, 1 big RBI RH bat, 1 good LH bat. Red and Country serve as IF and OF defensive replacements, Frisch can pinch run, etc.

Obviously the pitching staff is the most debatable. Was Carlton good enough before moving to PHI to also make the STL team? Did Tudor contribute long enough? Cooper was basically a 2-pitch pitcher, should he be in the rotation? Hey, where's Forsch? This could go on forever.

After crunching numbers and reviewing scouting reports for years, this is my current version. Maybe I'll upload to 2KShare if I ever finish.

I dont actually have any sort of formula, I'm using people I know that were on the team that did well. If I dont know the team or the players very well, then I'll go by statistics or by sheer games played with a team. One thing I decided to do that I usually dont is put the same player on multiple teams. I tried to adjust it to the different points in their careers, so Its more life-like
